How to clean laser printer, fax, etc.?

Question by pmejiasshopp: How to clean laser printer, fax, etc.?
Here at my job we used to order a product called Scrubex printer/fax cleaning sheets. They were alcohol based sheets you put through the printers, fax machines and copiers to clean them. I found out that they are no longer made (probably some idiots were getting high off of them). Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can clean our equipment. I was thinking of maybe running a sheet of paper with alcohol on it through, but I don’t want to mess anything up. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by Kate
Don’t bother. Those alcohol sheets were never a good idea – rubber rollers slowly absorb the alcohol before turning brittle. Eventually they will crack up but generally they will lose all grip on the paper before that happens.

What is the best fax/scan/laser printer for the money and suitable for a small office?

Question by dj: What is the best fax/scan/laser printer for the money and suitable for a small office?

Best answer:

Answer by whostolemyprofile
We have a Brother fax/scan/copier/laser printer. We love it. I don’t know what the “best” is, but this has been great. Very easy to use, even if you don’t read the instructions. It uses only 1 black toner cartridge, no color. It’s great, lots and lots of printing before the toner runs out. We have the MCF 18440 model, we liked it so much we brought it home and bought another one for the office, (it’s a newer model now.) If you don’t need color printing this is a good one.

How can I fax a document using my computer?

Question by peter hopson: How can I fax a document using my computer?
My computer is hooked up to a printer/scanner/fax machine. I typed up a document and want to send it by fax. Do I need to print it out and then send it by fax or can I print and select ‘fax’? Where do I type the receiving phone number? Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by astrid
It sounds like for some reason the recipient needs to receive a document by fax. You can accomplish this without even having or using a fax machine yourself.

I’m assuming that you have this document on your computer so all that you need to do is signup for a free or really cheap internet fax service like:

and you can send the document to their fax without the hassle of using a fax machine yourself, and it’ll be much better quality.

What is the best kind of fax to use when you are running a website business?

Question by jessika fitzgerald: What is the best kind of fax to use when you are running a website business?
Are the all-in-one fax/ printers/ scanners which use a pc modem to accept faxes any good? Are users of these happy with them?
The cheaper allinones are inkjet, do these still function ok? Or should I pay the extra money and get a laser printer all in one?

My computer will be online for more than 12 hours a day.Are the faxes that use a direct telephone line better? I need an answering machine as well. I want to send good quality faxes.

Best answer:

Answer by Computer Doc
The best fax is really Internet fax where you do all the faxing from and to your computer using email. It’s cheaper also.

It’s better for the following reasons:

1. Flexibility – You can fax from anywhere with as little as a smart phone
2. Money Savings – A fax machine, dedicated phone line, paper and toner cost more than an Internet fax subscription.
3. Efficiency – You can send and receive multiple faxes at the same time. You never have to wait for your fax machine
4. Reliability – You don’t have to worry about your fax machine or phone line not working. The Internet services are built to be available at all times.
5. Security -Faxes don’t sit on a machine available for anyone to see. Faxes are sent directly to those who are supposed to see it and no one else.

what is the best way to fax from your pc?

Question by Yeti: what is the best way to fax from your pc?
When I upgraded to Vista my hp laserjet 3030 all-in-one lost the capability to fax from pc or receive faxes to the pc. Im looking to buy a new device or explore other electronic options. Does anyone have any recommendations based on their own experience? I have a dedicated fax line and another device seems like the best bet. Thanks for your help.

Answer by rory w
FAX.. Wow! whats wrong with email? You can get lots of software applications that allow computers to send faxes via a dial up modem. One issue would be that the computer would need to be turned on.
You could get a old fashioned used fax machine for little moeny and use that. that way you get the best of both worlds.
