    The price for this filter, in my opinion, is expensive. Don’t understand why it has to be so expensive if Amana expect you to purchase 2 a year. I try to make it last longer than the 6 months recommended. My refrigerator water system begins to slow its flow after about 8 months but I hang on until approx. 12 months before changing out. Of course if it was cheaper then I would change out at recommended time frame.

    I ordered this this filter with the correct item number and received a completely different one filter that did not fit. I had to go through the trouble of sending it back and I still don’t have a filter. I’m afraid that if I re-order it, they will send the wrong one again. So, I am going to try another source. This is unlike Amazon, usually I get what I order. Right now I am very disappointed.

    These filters are available online at a couple of places. Though I feel the price is ridiculous everywhere, I went for the best price and shipping charge deal. I believe I got it on Amazon. Product is the same as others I have purchased. Whether or not you replace them every 6 mos. as recommended I think depends upon your level of usage, i.e., number of people in family. I go around a year with mine before changing. When the water becomes too slow–that’s when I change it.

    The 3-pack filter combo included the same Amana filters that are available elsewhere, but the per unit cost was about 30% less. However, I still think that water filters are overpriced, including this 3-pack set. Otherwise I would have rated this set a “5″.

    we’ve had out fridge for over 10 years now and it uses this type of filter. You can really notice the difference once a new filter has been placed. Ten years, replacing it every six months…so Amana…you should send me a freebie soon for being a loyal customer.
