I wanted stainless, but didn't feel like paying $1000+ for a hood. I am happy to say it is a very attractive unit, well built, easy to install, and works reasonably well. <br /> <br />I say reasonably, and I don't have anything to compare it to, so take this with a grain of salt, because at the lower speed settings, it will not draw air/steam from the front burners of the stove. When set to high speed, it does a good job, and does direct everything coming off the stove top up the flue. <br /> <br />The stainless is relatively easy to clean, but the top of the hood will get greasy if the fan isn't on and you are cooking with oil. The lights are nice and bright, and the fan isn't nearly as loud as some of the commercial units, but it doesn't draw as well either. Overall this is a good unit at a great price for someone looking to spice up the look of their kitchen without breaking the bank. Very bright light (good), strong fan on high setting (good), and pretty good construction. I have a nice kitchen and it fits right in. And for the price, it can't be beat.
