My Question: can water pipes, pipes, be sold in a cafe/restaurant?
I own a smoke shop in California City if LA. the smoke shop has been in existence for about 7 years i sell water pipes, hookahs, cigarettes and tobacco related accessories, and knifes , right next door there is a Cafe/restaurant/internet cafe . this cafe is filled with so many things i would call it a mini swap meat. they sell knifes, clothing, shampoo, shavers, blank cds, keyboard, and computer components as well as computers. food, coffee, and LIGHTERS, and much more things that i sell in my type of business.
recently they got an atm machine which i also have for 7 years. so now they are slowly bringing stuff in to compete with me keeping in mind they are exactly next door to me.
couple days later i found out that they are bringing water pipes and glass pipes to sell. and that what i have been doing and that’s what my business is based on. and the landlord does not want to get involved and he does does not mind.
so after i knew that i went ahead and bought 2 computers, and 3 coffee machines and places a sign that says FREE Internet Free fax and free coffee with any purchase.
my question is am i protected by any law can i force them not to sell glass pipes and water pipes and tobacco Accessories

Note: from my understanding to sell pipes and tobacco accessories you only need a seller license not tobacco license in necessary but the point is that they sell Food Ham and cheese and eggs any they have a permit from the health administration.

Q&A: Who thinks Microsoft’s hiding something when it comes to faulty Xbox 360′s see inside for details.?
I don’t have a problem I need help with, I just wanted peoples’ opinions.

I have an Xbox 360 Elite. (the black ones with 120 GB HDD hard drives) I bought it in April of 2007. I’ve had no issues with it at all except for a (user error) lightning strike. I was playing during a thunderstorm. Where I live we have underground power lines and phone lines. Lightning hit a tree in my front yard which happened to be right over the phone line. I use a surge protector so damage didn’t come through power line.
We have two phone lines in our house see chart below>

Primary = Phone number, and ATT DSL internet

Secondary = Fax machine, and back-up dial-up internet

Now the router/modem (lets just call it the gateway for future purposes) provided by ATT, was pluged into a surge protector, the only problem was the back-up phone line was pluged into it for some reason.

Lightning hit the tree, down tree into phone line, through phone line to gateway, kills gateway then comes through 150 ft ethernet cable down 1 floor to my room and fries my xbox. User error seriously my fault I was playing in thunderstorm.

THIS WAS NOT RED RING OF DEATH. It froze, so I thought it was fine, turned it off and back on and I get error code: E86.
I called tech support and actually got a real person who actually spoke understandable English (amazing right) anyway he walked me through getting it fixed or replaced. I shipped it to Texas for repair.
1st of a few questions= What do you think killed the Xbox, Phone line surge, EMP burst from lightning being so close, or other.

about 2 1/2 weeks later I get my box back. There was a letter inside saying:
Dear valued customer,
In order to get you back playing and enjoying your Xbox 360, we have sent you a replacement unit.
2nd question= (I’m happy that I got a more recently made Xbox as a replacement but–>) Do they do that to everybody or do they actually repair some and send them back?

3rd Question= Anybody who has personal expierence or knows any details, feel free to answer. Since I had an Elite did they rush my order, because my brother has a normal one and he said it took his an entire month to get back.

Back to my real subject, I have never heard of any Elite getting the RROD (Red Ring of Death) nor has mine ever had any manufacturing problems. Except for freezing up when I play my original xbox version of SW Battlefront II (disc is very scratched up)
My Elite won’t even flash red when I pull the video cable out when it’s in use. (if I understand correctly thats what their suppodsed to do right?)
Bottom line and final question is below:
Does microsoft give special treatment to customers owning an Elite? Including better testing and manufacturing of consoles?

P.S. If any body knows a free forum or blog site I would be happy to discuss this there. I know that some people have strong feelings about this issue and I know that you have limmited space for an answer.
Also note: the lightning strike happened in June of ’08, it’s now Jan ’09

I have no need for help for I don’t have a real problem. I just wanted to get a general idea of how people feel about different aspects of Microsoft’s service
Ok this I would really like to know.
I bought a 100 ft ethernet cable for my xbox instead of a wireless adapter.
Reason=I at the time, didn’t know the encryption code on my internet, when we got the new gateway (free replacement courtesy of ATT) we had to reconnect my desktop computer. It is 1 floor below our internet gateway so we didn’t have much of a choice. Using Halo 3 as an example I used to always have 5 green bars for connection and sometimes 4. Now I have 3 yellow bars and 4 green bars, 5 is still common, and 2 red bars happened once.

Do you think the lightning damaged the cable in any way, even though it still works?
not that it matters but I remember reading that my error code ment the ethernet chip was fried, makes sense right

2.some times they repair some and send them back unless the damage is so great that it cost more money to fix it then to just give you a new one
3.they just put them in a pile and take care of each 360, so it could take 2 wks to 1 yr.
4.no they dont

1. I think it was the surge in the phone line that did it.
2. I got a new replacement when I sent mine in, but I’ve had friends who’ve gotten theirs back fixed and others who’ve gotten refurbished ones.
3. They didn’t rush your order. Less people own Elites so it’s much faster to send a replacement, fix yours, or refurb to you.

I have several friends who’ve gotten the red rings on their Elites. There is no ‘special treatment’ given to Elite owners. A year ago, the Elite didn’t exist and the Premium was the top tier 360. Like I said, less people own Elites and that’s why you got it back so quickly. The majority of 360 owners have Premiums (Pros). I bought my Premium back in 2006 for the same price as the Elite is now and have never felt a need to get an Elite. Those who have Elites are mostly former Premium owners who wanted to upgrade. The Elite was released to entice people who need to have the best of everything and will waste their money doing so. It’s a Premium in a black case and is no better than the other two.

You can send via Yahoo! mail but first you would have to get affiliated with an online fax service like efax, metro fax or ring central.

Then you could type in the fax number and the fax company direct from your yahoo mail account.

It would be something like this…

1. Open up Yahoo! mail.
2. Type the fax number and company ex. 2056784445@efax.com
3. Click send and the fax is on its’ way.

Pretty simple.

OK. I called my doctor’s office to send me my medical history records so that I could review it before I make an appt for a specialist because I had trouble breathing at night. The receptionist told me to fax over the consent form for medical records release last Tuesday and I did it right away. I talked to her on the phone and asked her if she could send me the records that day and she said “I will do it as soon as I can”. I was waiting all afternoon for the fax however, she did not send them to me. So I called next morning and asked her nicely “did you have chance to get those sent to me via fax?” and she said “No, Our office closed early yesterday.” I told her so can you fax it again? and she said “I will do it as soon as I can” so i thought she was going to send them to me soon. I waited until next day, Nothing. I called again 2 days later and she answered and said “i was at the front counter all day and today too so I think I can fax that to you probally tomorrow” I was very upset however, I told her to just mail it to me since I can’t be waiting for the fax all day at home because our internet and fax lines are same so if fax machine is connected, then I can’t use internet. She said she will send it to me via mail as soon as she could. So today is monday, I have waited for the mail for 3 days, NOTHING. So i called her and asked her what happend and she said “I was the only person at the front counter and didn’t have chance to do that yet” I was outraged. and explained to her firmly that what she is doing is very unprofessional and the way she treats patients was unacceptable. And she replied “By law, I have 2 weeks to give you the records that you requested. Do you want to keep arguing with me or do you want the records to be sent right now via fax” She was yelling at me. I told her that I would need the records still, and asked her what’s her defination of “AS SOON AS I CAN” and she said “I get so many records request everday, and am very busy with phones and the counter too, do you still wanna argue with me?” I WAS PISSSSED. So I told her that she should send the records right now and I received the fax in 3 mintutes. I hung up with her and received the records after a week of trying. I don’t know if I should take this further, I was very disappointed and mad at the service that she provided. Do you think she intentinally tried to hold my request that long? Why in hell did you not go to the office and demand the records then and there. If she would not retrieve them immediately you could have demanded to see her boss or whomever she reports to. At the very least her incompetence needs to be addressed. The fact that she feels overworked is irrelevant, that is her problem.

I understand you getting upset over this, yes she may have been busy but she could have handled this a lot better.

Now, if she did this to you she probably has done it before to other people and gotten away with it or worse still her superiors may be aware and choose not to address the problem. Either way you paid for their services, so I would suggest not keeping this to yourself and contacting someone about the matter.

Also, you are correct her attitude toward the whole situation was very unprofessional.

well… now that you have the records, personally i would just let it go. but thats just me. theres a really good book out (and im not being sarcastic, btw) called dont sweat the small stuff. its about how you shouldnt let all the little things in life stress you out. i read it, and it actually helped, though i know that sounds kinda dorky.

As a receptionist, her job is to assist clients in any way they need. There’s no excuse for putting off your very reasonable request for so long. By all means, contact her supervisor and explain what happened. If she is truly too busy to get around to a simple fax, maybe her boss will think about hiring another receptionist to solve future problems.

I don’t blame you at all for being angry.

Contact her supervisor tomorrow. Tell them what happened, be nice but let them know how upset that it made you. Tell them that you just wanted them to know how she was treating patients & that you wanted them aware of the situation. Tell them you want to continue using them as a physician but you are appalled at how unprofessional & how rudely you were treated by this woman. Sometimes supervisors just don’t know. I speak from experience as I was the supervisor of 70+ people & it’s difficult to keep track of what each of your employees are doing. Especially in a busy office.

Now, here is the tough part, accept that you have done all you could do, even if that means that the supervisor isn’t going to do anything at all. (Which a good supervisor will look into.) You have taken the high road & done what you could. (Even if you want to meet her in the parking lot & punch her in the throat.) So let it go & the decide if you want to continue to use that physicians services.

How about asking for a specific time agreed to instead of “whenever I can get to it”? Ask for an idea when that might be, then get her to agree to it.

Or just go see the doctor anyway. Which is more important, your health or the records that you can’t do anything with anyway?

I understand that you’re upset, she really should have said it might be a few days rather than saying she would do it as soon as she could. But she probably is really busy, and at least you got what you needed. Let it go.

My Question: In what order do I have to order my network diagram?
I have to draw a diagram about small office network, it has 5 desktop computer, a printer, a fax, a server, a hub. And it uses a high speed DSL for internet connection.
I don’t know what order should be, is it
1. The server-DSL modem-firewall-internet? or
2. Server-firewall-DSL modem-internet? or
3. Server-router-firewall-internet? or
4. Server-firewall-router-internet? or how??

I should use DSL modem or a router or both??

Someone please help me if you know something about it..

I always diagram from the internet in. Looks like a pyramid that way.

Switch/Hub

Computer — Computer — Computer –Fax– Server– Printer

One line from Internet to modem
one from modem to router (you can attach server and printer here if you like or connect all the the next connector)

one from router to hub/switch

then lines from switch to each device (you can even list IP’s as needed particularly if they are statically assigned which you do want for the server, printer, and fax.

any reputable optometrist will do an exam and fit you for lenses and write you the prescription for them. They will charge you for this service. No you do not have to buy your contacts there

As with any doctor opticians provide the prescription, its up to you where you buy them from after the fitting. Ask for a copy of your prescription, it will have the name and contact details of your optician.

I recently graduated college, and normally I am not the sensitive kind, but lately, my family is really getting on my nerves about me being unemployed. The jokes are not funny when you are trying daily to find a job for yourself. Recent incident was when my mom asked me to help her with an online course that will require most of my day. Along with the constant calling of my name, cleaning after grown people and still trying to call, fax, and fill out internet applications, I told her that i won’t have time. She instantly got mad at me when there is a 26 year old undergrad college student living there as well. Now I know I should be grateful, but I have bust my as through school. It has only been two months since getting out of school and I don’t feel like my efforts should be considered as doing nothing. Was I wrong for telling my mom no? What would you do in this situation?
All disrespectful comments will be flagged. I don’t come on here to be insulted but for help and I am expect the same respect from other users. Thank you!

this is a hard situation, i kind of know how you feel.
it is really hard to find a decent job with a good enough pay and it is hard to tell them that one thing i told my parents is im looking for a job that i like, cause if you dont like the job it is so hard to go to work.
you are going to go and it will be miserable.
you have to let them know you are trying your best to find something that fits you. and that it isnt easy of course you could go get a job at taco bell but then that will sooner or later not be good enough.
just let them know you are trying and that it does take time to find something decent.
hopefully that helped a little.
but with your mom just try to talk to her about it let her know you are not trying to be disrespectful but that you are trying to look for employment and that you may not have time to help her with that.

Register with a few agencies they can place you in different jobs that may or may not be suitable for you , but they seems to have all the leads on the jobs out there these days.

I don’t think you were wrong in telling your mom that you are too busy. If it’s her that’s taking the course, why would she require you to be there all day long?

My advise to you, should anyone not understand about job searching, explain that when jobs become available it takes at least two weeks or so to get an interview and could take up to another two weeks to hear if you’ve been hired. It’s very time consuming filling out applications, mailing resumes, etc. so don’t let anyone make you feel that you aren’t trying.

No it wasnt wrong for you to say no i stuggle with the same problem I always feel guilty when i say no because even when i just dont have the time to do it. I think you should sit down and tell everyone you dont appreciate them making jokes because it only makes things harder on you. This may be a little to strong but I also think the people in your house hold are being very selfish. They know you are tring to find a job and they keep having you do peddly things. My mom gets mad when I say no, know because I never use to say no I would always do what she asked me to do, and only naturally from her she expects you to continue to do it this way. but as we get older we have our own lives to take care of and we dont have the same time we did before. I hope this helps.
