Question: I found a 2000 with 83 K, in my price range. should I buy it for primary car or wait until I can afford new.?
I have wanted a corvette for 35 years (I’m 39). I found a 2000 with 83K miles in my price range. My 1st question is: Is it a good idea to buy it for a primary car? I drive approx. 400 miles a week. Should I wait until I can afford a new one, or until I can afford to buy it as a second vehicle? The car seems to be in perfect condition (looks) I don’t know anything about engines though. #2. I know that I can go to car fax or some other web site to check the history, but what are some things to look for when buying a used corvette? BTW, the car is on a small lot, not an individual. #3. What price range should this car be in? I know I haven’t given all the specs, just a ball park figure for that year model.
I don’t know much about the engine’s, but about deciding whether to wait or not, I would definately wait for a new vehicle. They have a lot more technology and you have a much better guarantee on the condition. Just think, a 2000 Corvette sounds niceee, but a new one, sounds even better. I would definately wait. Some law firm from UTAH called my mother’s answering machine left a rude msg that they are going to sue me and take me to court over a Providian CC I once had. I called them today and and the guy hung up on me 2x. Finally I called back and got a “manager” he basically told me that the collectors sold it to them and they will serve me papers and sue me if I do not pay it off. I am a student and only make $ 8/hour!!! He basically is trying to force me into paying a sum of $ 25 a month w/post dated checks! He also is demanding that I get to a fax machine immediatley so he can fax me some papers to sign and then wants me to give him 3 months worth of post-dated checks! I don’t know what to do but I have had other bills that I am worried about paying besides a cc bill from 5 years ago! Is there any free legal advice, can they really do this and should I sign those papers???
I actually live in OKLAHOMA, but that law firm that I have spoken w/is in Salt Lake City, UTAH

I would just forget about it, too much trouble. If it’s from 5 years ago the interest rates and fees have probably accumulated to way more than just 00, otherwise they wouldn’t be bothering you at all.

That happened to me years ago and nothing happened. The CC company already wrote it off as a lost and I just got bad credit. Then the debt was sold again and the same thing happened. It went on for 6 years. That was 20 years ago. I don’t know how far they go now.

yes eventually they do get some of there money…but check with a legal aid i think there is a time limit on some of them..call a lawyer..they can tel you how you can recieve some legal advice….free or real cheap ..and dont sign any papers without knowing what your signing

Yes, they do. However, if it has been five years I wouldn’t pay anything until I checked a few things out. I don’t know anything about the debt laws in your state, but in Texas a debt is considered null and void after seven years from the last date you made any payment on it. They also cannot call your mom and leave rude messages on her phone if you do not live there. Let them know that you have no means of paying the debt until you finish school and that you will contact THEM when you are ready to make payment if it happens to be before the seven year cutoff.

Is it possible to use the fax prog from W2k on an XPPro machine. Has this been done. The fax details have disappeared from my computer, even hidden files and I’ve misplaced (lost?) setup disk. I realise all files will have to be transferred etc to relevant folders.

Have you considered Internet faxing? If you sign up with an Internet fax provider you get your own fax account. Faxes are sent and received in your email inbox, so faxing is very mobile. For more information take a look at http://www.myfax.com

i found a 2000 s430 with amg sport pkg for 8800 the car is clean in and out has no leaks cause i checked, he has the car fax that includes all service records for the car, i, it rides like its brand new suspension seems solid the air matic suspension functions perfectly, i alwas loved this car, and I feel that now that its affordable and I found one in immaculate condition, that i should go for it , would this car be a good daily driver for at least 9 months, i plan on buying a 2004 745i in about a year,
is this a good, buy considering i take care of it. Do all the maininece on time oil changees and such

It sounds like a decent deal but it’s impossible for anyone to truly judge a vehicle by description alone. If you want this car, make it a condition of sale to have the vehicle inspected at a shop/dealer of YOUR choosing.
Spending a few bucks now can save you hundreds or possibly even thousands of dollars down the line in unexpected repairs.

Sounds fair, it should be good for another 100,000 miles as long as you stay current with all of the maintenance.
It would be worthwhile to pay for a pre-purchase inspection at a Mercedes dealer. An independent shop is unlikely to have the equipment necessary to do a “short test” on the electrical systems. The dealer can hook up a Mercedes laptop computer that will test every electrical system on the car. It will cost a few bucks, but might uncover some hidden (and very expensive) issues.

If it is an external modem then you should not need a driver. Nearly all modems use the standard AT commands, so you just have to connect the modem to your serial port and tell your application which port you have connected it to.
