How do I install about 8 telephones using a single ‘line’ in my house? – Fax Driver
Posted by in Fax Driver on February 21, 2012

My Question: How do I install about 8 telephones using a single ‘line’ in my house?
Mom is mobility impaired. Her house has DSL & single line analog phone (voice) service . Has 2 cordless phones & 2 hardwired extensions sharing that 1 line. Sometimes she has a cordless phone within reach. Many times she has to get up & (sometimes painfully) move to place where cordless phone was left or to nearest wired phone.
Am aware that using several handsets/POTS introduces problems (involving issues such as impedance, S-N ratios, etc).
I know about unpowered splitters (have seen 5x splitters)
but think I need an amplified splitter/replicator/ LineDuplicator.
Wish I knew the correct telephone term for this kind of device.
What are my options?
My dream sys involves 6 wired phones (one for voice/fax) & 2 cordless phones. Have plenty Cat5 cable; prefer to use wired phones.
Another minor detail that may/not complicate the situation is pending installation of RJ31 jack for home health monitoring system. This probably doesn’t affect my 8 extension plan.
susan a:
not trying to use 8 lines; using one line.
desire 8 extensions to share same line
(if any phone rings, any extension can be picked up and the call is answered).
need something sorta like a Hub in the IP world.
I sent you an email.
ahhh you want to have 8 lines? ok well your plan is impossible. The only way you can have that many lines to have a PRI (voice T-1), due to the fact that you probably dont have enough facilities at the MPOE(minimum point of entry).
Let me know ….I was checking that too but the Telephone company said can’t unless we let them do that have 8 to 10 ..But we pay them .00 /hour.
the average line the REN must equal 5, so 5 phones is normally the max that should be placed on a single line, however turning off some of the ringers could help…
depending on the signal comming into your home you may not need anything more then some good inside wire runs, I recommend when you run your wire to run it the same you would data cable, one run per jack to a central point, dont go jack to jack…
you can probably find a REN amplifier for your telephone line at radio shack..

What to do about home offer not responded to?
Posted by in Fax Free on February 4, 2012

My Question: What to do about home offer not responded to?
Here is my problem:
I put an offer in on a home last week Wednesday (August.29,2007), Finally on Friday, August.31,2007 the listing agent faxed a letter to my agaent stating that the home had another offer submitted that day. The letter did not state that the other persons offer was higher or lower than mine. All it stated was that I should at my discretion resubmit my highest possible offer, which I then bumped up my offer by $ 8,500 more. (Now my current offer is 5% less than the listing price).
I decided to do a little investication. I pretended to be someone else and called the listing agents office, and asked “Are there any pending offers and is the home still available?”, they told me that there was no pending offers and the hoem was still available.
Am I being tricked into offering more money so that the listing agent can get more commission?
(My agent is my fathers friend, very trusting)
(THIS IS A BANK OWNED HOME!)
Should I heard a response form the bank yet?
call them and tell them to be honest
They are holding out for more money. The owner has a set price in his head and has the power to turn down any offer. Plus there is still a lot of racial and class discrimination going on as well.
You do not have a signed contract so they can do anything they please until you do.
I would call the bank direct and tell them you have reason to believe the offer was not submitted and see what they say.
Where I live anyways, you should only be dealing with your agent, not the listing agent. Sounds like the listing agent is crosiing some ethical lines. Contact your agent. Thats what he/she will be paid for in the end.
When I bought a house a couple years ago, we would put in an offer and give them a time period to get back to us. After we were screwed on our first house we offered on, we only gave the owners 24 hours to respond to our offer. If they didn’t respond or declined, oh well. The only way I would have upped my offer would have been if the home owner made a counter offer. It sounds as though you were waiting 48 hours only to get a letter from the selling agent that the home owner received another offer. In that case, you have two choices, assuming they are telling you the truth, you can up your offer or give up on that house.
If you trust your agent, I would have them look into whether or not someone else actually put in an offer on the house, or if they are trying to get more money from you.
Good luck

Q&A: Does Microsoft have a photo storage site, and how about?
putting a “Store Online” link in the “Windows Picture and Fax Viewer” (what a stupid name) so that as you lot of pics, you can click “Store Online” and then move on to view the next pic by pressing the right arrow, while the uploading keeps happening in the background?
http://tech.msn.com/guides/photosguide.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0
You can create a new album in the above MS site. If not you can store photos in MSN myspace. http://myspace.msn.com

I’m sooo pissed, What can I do about this lady?
Posted by in Fax Internet on November 19, 2011
Fax Service: I’m sooo pissed, What can I do about this lady?
OK. I called my doctor’s office to send me my medical history records so that I could review it before I make an appt for a specialist because I had trouble breathing at night. The receptionist told me to fax over the consent form for medical records release last Tuesday and I did it right away. I talked to her on the phone and asked her if she could send me the records that day and she said “I will do it as soon as I can”. I was waiting all afternoon for the fax however, she did not send them to me. So I called next morning and asked her nicely “did you have chance to get those sent to me via fax?” and she said “No, Our office closed early yesterday.” I told her so can you fax it again? and she said “I will do it as soon as I can” so i thought she was going to send them to me soon. I waited until next day, Nothing. I called again 2 days later and she answered and said “i was at the front counter all day and today too so I think I can fax that to you probally tomorrow” I was very upset however, I told her to just mail it to me since I can’t be waiting for the fax all day at home because our internet and fax lines are same so if fax machine is connected, then I can’t use internet. She said she will send it to me via mail as soon as she could. So today is monday, I have waited for the mail for 3 days, NOTHING. So i called her and asked her what happend and she said “I was the only person at the front counter and didn’t have chance to do that yet” I was outraged. and explained to her firmly that what she is doing is very unprofessional and the way she treats patients was unacceptable. And she replied “By law, I have 2 weeks to give you the records that you requested. Do you want to keep arguing with me or do you want the records to be sent right now via fax” She was yelling at me. I told her that I would need the records still, and asked her what’s her defination of “AS SOON AS I CAN” and she said “I get so many records request everday, and am very busy with phones and the counter too, do you still wanna argue with me?” I WAS PISSSSED. So I told her that she should send the records right now and I received the fax in 3 mintutes. I hung up with her and received the records after a week of trying. I don’t know if I should take this further, I was very disappointed and mad at the service that she provided. Do you think she intentinally tried to hold my request that long? Should i report her to her superior about this? Man I’m pissed!
Answer by Lunar_Heart
Wow I would definitely report her, maybe if she gets more complaint calls then she might get a talk from her boss….
Answer by pondfish
Why in hell did you not go to the office and demand the records then and there. If she would not retrieve them immediately you could have demanded to see her boss or whomever she reports to. At the very least her incompetence needs to be addressed. The fact that she feels overworked is irrelevant, that is her problem.
Answer by marjeza
I understand you getting upset over this, yes she may have been busy but she could have handled this a lot better.
Now, if she did this to you she probably has done it before to other people and gotten away with it or worse still her superiors may be aware and choose not to address the problem. Either way you paid for their services, so I would suggest not keeping this to yourself and contacting someone about the matter.
Also, you are correct her attitude toward the whole situation was very unprofessional.
Answer by Juliet
well… now that you have the records, personally i would just let it go. but thats just me. theres a really good book out (and im not being sarcastic, btw) called dont sweat the small stuff. its about how you shouldnt let all the little things in life stress you out. i read it, and it actually helped, though i know that sounds kinda dorky.
Answer by increase the PEACE
relax, you got your papers. whats done is done. let it go. what if she is the only person left to handle everything ? i mean i do understand i would be mad myself, but try looking at it from her view as well.

How does someone report a scam, is there anything that can be done about someone falsely promising money? – Fax Email
Posted by in Fax Email on November 3, 2011
Ask by brita9: How does someone report a scam, is there anything that can be done about someone falsely promising money?
A private lawyer from England is contacting people via email stating that they are the only living relative and can apply for the millions of dollars (pounds) left to them. The process is long, costly, and asks for much personal information including a color copy of a passport. How can I be sure this is a scam? The fax number they have given me is 44-700-598-0371 for the Castle Trust Bank.

Q&A: Question about prepaid credit card?
Posted by in Fax Online on October 28, 2011
Question by I crossed the line: Question about prepaid credit card?
ok I cant get my card until I send them a fax and other info. However my card is already activated online and they sent me the account number 16 digits and a three digit number CVV code. I want to buy something from walmart but I have a question is the 16 account number same as the credit card number? and is the 3 digit CVV code same as the id card number. Ps the card is mastercard.
Selected answer:
Answer by muneepenee
1. yes
2.wotever em kall the last 3 digits on the bak av the kredit kard…its sum sorta sekerity chek.
It started bak wen stores had a littel mechanikal devies…
put kard in it, slide a handel, & it run a roler over kard that press the number onto a paper karbon. Bak then em kept trak av all that paper & shipped it around.
So kredit kumpanees put a number on bak weer it dont impress the paper.
Answer by Kaiden
The 16 digit account number is the number that is on the front of the credit card, and the 3-digit code is the security number (pretty much to prove you actually have the card, and didn’t just sneak a peak at the front of someone else’s credit card.)
If the card is activated and you have that information, you can use the card online. You will likely NOT be able to use it in stores though; most stores are very weary on manually entering credit card information.

What do you think about these fast cash loans/payday loans..etc?? – Fax Online
Posted by in Fax Online on October 24, 2011

Ask by nynena959: What do you think about these fast cash loans/payday loans..etc??
I have been researching these fast cash loans/payday loans, but I am still not sure if I want to trust them. They make it sound so easy to just get cash overnight! I need to get a loan for at least $ 1,500-$ 2,000 and I get paid every 2 weeks! You fill out the online app., which asks you, When is your next payday? Do you have direct deposit and things of that nature. You put your phone number so that a lender can call you and let you know if you will get the loan and discusses other things with you. sometimes you have to fax info that they ask for and with some you don’t!! What I need to know, is “Are these fast cash loans/payday loans/quick cash…etc” on the up and up??? Or is it just a scam??? I don’t wantto be screwed over, if you know what I mean!! Thanx!!
Good Answer:
Answer by Anonymous
I can’t speak for all of them, but at least some of them are legitimate. Depending where you live, you could simply go into a payday loan place and get cash. They’re all over most big cities. Problem is that you’ll pay huge exorbitant, almost usury, interest rates and fees. If you can get the money any other way, I recommend you do it. Good luck.
Answer by heatt28
You can get the loan very fast and very easily but your going to have to pay back a lot more than you borrow and they want your bank info because they’ll take it right out of your account as soon as your paycheck is deposited. It can get you in a lot of trouble if you don’t have the money to pay it back soon! I wouldn’t recommend doing this. If you can’t come up with the money yourself in under a month your not going to have the money to pay them either and your bank account will be hurting! Plus if you don’t pay it back it will be very hard for you to get a checking account in the future!
Answer by fixitall
The quick cash or pay day loans are nothing but a legal way to rob you. The interest rate on these type of loans is very high and if you figure what the annual interest rate would be it will amaze you with what they can charge for a short term loan.
Answer by Gillian G
The way to look at payday loans is that if you desperately need money and you have absolutely no way of finding it anywhere else then a payday loan is a necessary evil. It’s quite easy to get the money (this website explains how) but you will have to pay – (maybe) in interest for just a couple of weeks use of the money.
If this price is worth it to you then go ahead. Payday loans do not affect your credit provided that you pay them back on time. And DO pay them back on time, otherwise the costs will spiral.
Good luck!
Answer by RaleighF
Lets face it, if you need to use a payday loan company, you need money fast, and dont have many other options. That means you are a risk, and that’s why they charge high interest rates. If you’re not that type, but just need quick cash, then fine, use a payday loan place, pay a few bucks for the convenience, and call it a day. They exist for a purpose. Fast, and easy cash. They take the risks, and they hold up their end of the bargain. If you do the same, you will be happy.

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace.
