You can use a data cable hooked up to a phone (on a network that supports CSD) and use it as a fax/modem. So if you have a laptop you can use that to send and receive faxes via your wireless phone. Verizon still supports CSD, they don’t charge monthly for it and the minutes just come out of your normal plan minutes.
As far as an adapter, I’d question its ability to transmit the signal error free through the vocoder meant to digitize voices. It could work but it would probably have to negotiate a very slow speed such as 1200baud or even 300baud. The adapter would also have to recreate phone line voltage depending on the fax machine. CSD is really the way to go as it’ll connect at 14400, standard fax speed these days.
Another option would be to use a fax to email service, or set one up at your home/business like FaxPress and then you can access it from anywhere via the internet. An option that could work to use a real fax machine would be to use an EVDO router in lieu of a cell phone, like the Kyocerya KR1 and hook it up to a VOIP adapter like one from Vonage. You’d have to rig up a battery for the two though and have a portable power source for the fax machine …. but it CAN be done depending on how bad you want it

Hi MS:I assume the cordless phone works OK from this jk.Plug FAX direct into line jk.Can you fax out? If NO,line cord or fax machine problem. If Yes,check the splitter for proper type. The common one has L1 appearing on the middle 2 jk contacts of both jks.The other type marked L1,L2 has L1 appearing on the middle 2 jk contacts & L2 appearing on the middle 2 jk contacts of this jk. I hope this helps you. exbelltel
