Allstate fraudulently billed me long after I asked for my policy to be canceled. What should I do? – Fax Online
Posted by in Fax Online on January 17, 2012

Question: Allstate fraudulently billed me long after I asked for my policy to be canceled. What should I do?
14 days ago from this date, I called my local allstate insurance agency and asked them to cancel my policy right away. They told me with assurance and on the spot that I was no longer insured with them. Then 3 days after I found out my policy was still active online, I called them again and they said they will put a cancellation request. I called them four more times and they gave me the exact same response and days have passed, and my policy was still not canceled. Yesterday I found out they have debited $ 105 from my bank account. And up to today, my policy with them is still active and is showing my next billing date to Sept. 10.
So yesterday, I was arguing with these corrupt Allstate people on the phone, asking why they charged me when I ordered a policy cancellation two weeks ago. This time, they told me to fax them my new policy with Geico before they will effectively cancel my policy and issue me a refund. I’m just so infuriated with them right now. I have a feeling they will continue to play games with me. I faxed them my Geico declaration page yesterday morning, yet my policy with Allsate is still active to this hour. What are my options now?
The normal thing to do is cancel in writing and keep a copy of the correspondence.
I would never cancel anything on the phone
Continue to hound them until it’s done. Keep the documentation.
I’ve had to fight some battles. Don’t give up. Don’t be angry. Just be firm and polite. Ask to speak to a manager.
Provide your agent with a copy of your Geico policy showing the effective date. Ask them in writing to cancel your Allstate policy back to the inception date of the Geico policy and your money should be refunded to you. Allstate will not typically process a cancellation with out a signed request from the insured, that is probably why it did not cancel properly.

How long does it take to get access financial aid money after you send in the award letter? – Fax Email
Posted by in Fax Email on October 14, 2011

By William: How long does it take to get access financial aid money after you send in the award letter?
I go to post online and and had to sign and fax the award letter which was back on May 2nd, I received an email from the financial aid company saying there was access funds, I got that email On the 15th. Will I be getting a check from the school? If so when would I likely get it? I’m moving In two weeks and don’t want the check going to my old address.
Answer:
Answer by I
At my college . The day i start classes is the day I got my refund .
Answer by Forest Greene
Although it is probably too late for this semester, go to your school’s student website or financial aid office, and fill out the paperwork for a direct deposit of your financial aid refund. Most schools issue their refund checks at the end of the add drop week. If you have direct deposit, the amount will show up in your bank account on the first Monday or Tuesday AFTER the first week of school is over. If you did not request a deposit, the school will send out a check on the same day, which will arrive in the mail within two weeks of the send date.
I typically advise students without stable addresses, to leave their parents’ address as their permanent mailing address. If you didn’t do that, it is possible that the check will be sent to your old address. Make sure that you file a forwarding address form with your post office, and you should still get your check fairly quickly.
Hope this helps.

Ask by Jason: How long does background check take after conditinal job offer?
I got a conditional job offer on thursday. I got drug tested Friday. Faxed the signed offer letter Friday too. Some investigator email saturday saying they couldnt get in touch with my internship and i could fax my most recent pay stub. i faxed last pay stub of thar internship monday. today is wed and I have not heard back from internal recruiter or anyone else. Its an entry level job. whats the deal
Good Answer:
Answer by John Bradshaw
It usually takes 1-2 weeks to complete a background check. You shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Also, if the company finds anything that might disqualify you from the job, they must notify you and tell you what information they used against you. You can then appeal if the info is incorrect.
Good luck!

There’s no law against sending more letters of recommendation after you have been denied, but in all honesty, it would be pointless and unlikely to change their minds.

So far nothing except agencies. It’s been about a year.
Answer by casapulla2001
Not even once.
My thoughts here, are that HR people are lazy. No one explores these sites LOOKING through profiles.. when a friend or neighbor sends a resume (and all they need is a handful to say they’ve actually searched). In NYC, the jobs go to people that KNOW the HR people.. that means, predominantly where they live across NJ and LI. Sad, but true and always under board.
Answer by Jes
Yes, but only if your resume is written better than your questions on Yahoo Answers.
Answer by Deborah M
The most success I have had with this is on craigslist. In my case I think I need to rewrite my resume, that may be the case for you as well.
Answer by alchaley
Not usually but it doesnt hurt to keep trying. I would not make that my main focus if i were you. I would suggest the old fashioned way, pounding the pavement and word of mouth. It took me nearly a year to find something so good luck!

I am an assistant and our small office just went through a hiring process for a receptionist. We only took resumes by email, and also did not give out a phone number. I understand how frustrating it can be to not have a phone number to contact the company at. The response to our job post was overwhelming, and our office cannot deal with the number of phone calls from applicants and still service our clients, so we did not include a phone number.
Out of 50+ applicants by email, only one sent a second email confirming that we received her resume and cover letter and letting us know that if we had any questions we could contact her. This made a BIG impression, and she was one of the 8 people that we decided to interview, and ended up being one of our top 3.
I would suggest your definitely email them, just to confirm, and make yourself available for an interview, or any follow up questions they may have. Even if you found a telephone nuber, if the company did not puclish it in the job post, do not call. It is disruptive to the business, and they have a good reason not to want to answer calls from applicants. Email is perfect, if that is what the company requested.

Spouse AWOL after returning home on convalescent leave.? – Fax Free
Posted by in Fax Free on August 13, 2011

Question by Grant S: Spouse AWOL after returning home on convalescent leave.?
My spouse flew back late last month after have three surgeries. Needless to say, she was pretty drugged up when I got her. She had 6 days of convalescent leave (free leave for soldiers with medical problems) and was in lots of pain. We ended up going to the ER twice over the next 6 days. On the day she was to return to her unit, I drove her to the airport, but she was throwing up and was having a hard time walking. I asked if she would be allowed to fly as they said no, so I drove the 300 miles home and took her to the ER (third time). I called her unit and told them, but beings as she is in AIT, they really didn’t seem to care. I tried faxing them the doctor’s note, but their fax wasn’t working. Around the 7th of this month, she was out of pain, but we were out of money to fly her due to the constant long trips to the hospital.
On the 15th, we found out that her pay had stopped and after a third call to her company, I was finally able to get in touch with her 1st Sgt who pretty much said that it was up to her to get back and offered no advice.
I contacted the nearest base, Ft Lewis, 500 miles away, and I’ll be turning her over to the MP’s. She has not reached the 30 day mark so she isn’t a deserter. I just feel so bad that the military wasn’t willing to grant her more leave after her surgeries. What are the chances they will throw the book at her, and what can I do to help? We have kept in contact with her unit. I served in the Army for 6 years, got out Honorable, and feel just horrible that she has such a worthless chain of command.
Her AIT is at Fort Sam Houston. I was surprised that she was going to be able to return home on Convalescent Leave. The reason they let her take leave was because she had missed so much class time from all the TMC and Hospital visits that she was getting recycled the company behind, so would have been sitting around for a few weeks. In their minds, Appendix removed, 7-10 Days, Cyst removed from organ, 7-10 Days, another female surgery, 7-10 Days = 7-10 Days of leave.
No, the military doesn’t pay for flights to and from home for soldiers going on convalescent leave. And as for as going to Madigan in Fort Lewis, well, we’re heading there tomorrow. I feel like an idiot for not thinking of it myself.
As far as letting her deal with it, well, letting someone so new in the military handle things for themselves, well, the cadre will walk all over them. In her AIT, with 500 soldiers per company, the Drill Sergeants really stop caring about soldiers. I’ve been there, done that.

Well, it looks like the military are about as understanding as every other boss in the world. You would think since your wife is helping to protect our country they could do a little bit to help her. I say move to Canada.

a private employer would never be able to pull that crap, it would violate dozens of employment labor laws.
Answer by bigmikejones
Well, I think you needed to be more pro-active in this issue. She needed to go to the nearest military medical facility and she would have been back in the system and not awol.
You see, its not like a job where you can call in sick. The military are only interested in your body and knowing where its at. When I was in, I got sick on leave and went to a Naval Hospital. When I got back to my unit, they were getting antsie until I handed them my medical file from the Navy, then they dug deeper and found where they were notified of my admisson.
If she was hospitalized, get all that paperwork, keep the orginals and provide the military with a copy of each. You may have to obtain a lawyer to help with all the legal garbage she is facing.
Good Luck
Answer by HarleyMan
The military these days is worthless and uncaring. My father was a retired Marine. He fought in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam twice. All they ever did was take away benefits from him and other retired vets. When he died in 2003 my mother found out she would no longer receive his retirement check. She is living off of his social security only. As the years have progressed so has the military in becoming distant from the needs of their men and women. They do not stand beside you in the time of need. They turn their back and look for other suckers that they can manipulate into joining and fighting for freedom. Funny, if you manage to do things their way and only their way you can end up being screwed too.
I am sorry for what you are going through with your wife. It is a slap in the face. It speaks for itself as far as our military today.
If they ever decide to draft I hope everyone hits the border, just because of situations like this.
I was proud of my father. I just wish the military and the government looked at it the same way.
Answer by JohnRingold
Now that it is pretty much over and done with. What you should have done is notified the American Red Cross. Why ?? Because they could have verified that your wife was in the Hospital and they would have notified her chain of command. Out of money ?? You should have notified the Army Emergency Relief Folks. They too could have verified your situation and either given you a grant (You don’t pay them back) or a loan (you pay them back thru an allotment). As of right now… Your wife needs to have all of her documents showing that she was in the hospital. Write down all of the dates and times that you or her tried to notify the unit that she was in the hospital. I must say though that I find it hard to believe that no one in her chain of command did not care that she was in the hospital and that she had failed to report back from leave. Good Luck

Ask by Janessa: I’m going to resign on Monday after 12 years. How do I do it? Do I call my boss or fax her the letter?
Both? What about email? Should I email the letter? Should I just call her? I have the letter ready. It’s going to be awkward. She knows I don’t like her and she’s going to think I’m doing this to be spiteful, but I’m not. I swear!

However you want. You do not owe anybody anything if they haven’t treated you right.

Tell your boss personally, you want to leave a good impression when you leave. Tell her and you can also give her a copy of the letter. Tell her you are sorry you are leaving, but ……… whatever reason. Even if you don’t like her, try to do the right thing. What if by some chance you need her as a reference!!!
Answer by j81s79j06
First a phone call, followed by the letter. Ask her which would be the better option for her, email or fax. Good luck.
