Service to fix an appliance wasn’t done and they filed a small court claim!?

Ask by lilica: Service to fix an appliance wasn’t done and they filed a small court claim!?
I asked a company to fix my washer machine. The technician came and told me it was fixed. I paid for it. He told me and put in the invoice a $ 155 lid switch was broken and had to be replaced (not as a condition to fix the machine since he said he was waiting the whole process to see if it worked and it did) so I told him I was not interested to change it since it was broken for 7 years and it had not been the problem which I called them for fixing. The next day I tried it and the washer machine still had exactly the same problem. So I called and the rep. told me it was the lid switch that had to be changed in order to fix the problem. I told him I was sure it wasn’t the problem and I didn’t want to spend $ 155 in an unneeded repair. He just answered: we are the technicians. So I agreed but I told him that if they changed it and the machine remained unfixed I didn’t accept to be charged for it. Again he came, ‘fixed’ it. I wasn’t there so I didn’t sign to charge the same credit card and I wasn’t asked how I wanted to pay. The next day it still has exactly the same problem, so I faxed a letter saying I did not authorized to charge my credit card until the problem what I requested a service for is really fixed and I didn’t agree to be charged for something that I specifically told them it was not the problem. They called me and told me it would not be charged until fixed. But they did. So I disputed the charged, which I have to pay until the credit card decides if it is valid or not. Now, they are taking me to small court. What do I suppose to do?

Buy a new washing machine?

But seriously, just state the facts that you have typed in onto Y/A to the judge and I believe that you will ‘win’ the case.

I am looking for a fax appliance that is rack mountable that can go up to 10 lines incoming and works with Microsoft exchange server/email. Also it would be a bonus if it could have the capabilities of sending out faxes as well.
