Allstate fraudulently billed me long after I asked for my policy to be canceled. What should I do? – Fax Online

fax online

Question: Allstate fraudulently billed me long after I asked for my policy to be canceled. What should I do?
14 days ago from this date, I called my local allstate insurance agency and asked them to cancel my policy right away. They told me with assurance and on the spot that I was no longer insured with them. Then 3 days after I found out my policy was still active online, I called them again and they said they will put a cancellation request. I called them four more times and they gave me the exact same response and days have passed, and my policy was still not canceled. Yesterday I found out they have debited $ 105 from my bank account. And up to today, my policy with them is still active and is showing my next billing date to Sept. 10.

So yesterday, I was arguing with these corrupt Allstate people on the phone, asking why they charged me when I ordered a policy cancellation two weeks ago. This time, they told me to fax them my new policy with Geico before they will effectively cancel my policy and issue me a refund. I’m just so infuriated with them right now. I have a feeling they will continue to play games with me. I faxed them my Geico declaration page yesterday morning, yet my policy with Allsate is still active to this hour. What are my options now?

The normal thing to do is cancel in writing and keep a copy of the correspondence.
I would never cancel anything on the phone

Continue to hound them until it’s done. Keep the documentation.

I’ve had to fight some battles. Don’t give up. Don’t be angry. Just be firm and polite. Ask to speak to a manager.

Provide your agent with a copy of your Geico policy showing the effective date. Ask them in writing to cancel your Allstate policy back to the inception date of the Geico policy and your money should be refunded to you. Allstate will not typically process a cancellation with out a signed request from the insured, that is probably why it did not cancel properly.

Is it a good sign to be asked for salary requirements?

fax email

Question by duffcaprous: Is it a good sign to be asked for salary requirements?
I interviewed for a job and yesterday they called and said that they wanted to move forward. I was asked to fax over and application and an employment release form. I was also asked to email my salary requirements. Am I likely to get the job or is there anything that might make them not take me at this point other than the salary (which they said was in a good range)? It is in the IT field, for information purposes.

Best answer:

Answer by kittenandco
I think it’s a good sign. Especially after the interview; it sounds like they’re writing up an offer letter. Good luck!

Answer by InspectorBudget
The news is good that you have passed the first hurdle. However, the salary requirement does put you ( and everyone else in the same position ) in a bit of a bind.

Ask for too much, and they may pass you over for another candidate with lower salary requirements; ask for too little and you’re short-selling yourself which may lead to dissatisfaction with the company and job.

One option you have is to go to a website like salary.com, and look at the ranges of salaries for IT folks in your state or city. Then answer the company by giving a range a little tighter than what you see on the web.

Good luck

FAQ: I asked this question about B/K before but I think I worded it wrong?

fax email

Ask by Janet: I asked this question about B/K before but I think I worded it wrong?
We want to file Chapter 13 and we do want to use a lawyer-the thing is we would like to use a lawyer that will communicate via email/phone/ fax as opposed to having to find time to go to a lawyers office-has anyone been able to find a lawyer that will work this way?

Good Answer:

Answer by wizjp
Pretty much every lawyer is going to want to do the initial meetings face to face; payment of retainer, initial transfer of documents to be included, and changes as they occur.

It’ll be minimal; but still needed.

At-fault driver asked to “pay-out-of-pocket”.?

Question by Lunacy: At-fault driver asked to “pay-out-of-pocket”.?
I’ll try to make this short. My dad got rear-ended about 4 days ago. The lady at-fault wants to pay “out-of-her-pocket”. (For what reason, I have no idea). We got her information such as her address, telephone number, and DL. But my question isn’t “should we trust her?”, because my dad is giving her a chance by faxing her the bill.

What I want to know is, what options are we left with ‘if’ she decides to not pay a single penny? And what defensive stance can we take to make sure that we will get her payment? I’m sorry if this is a silly question but I just don’t want to see my dad’s kindness taken advantage of.
I’m asking for my dad and I’m not sure if he got her insurance information or if she even has one. I’m also not sure if my dad even filed a report of any type, which I am highly worried about. I am young and I am not familiar with law and ethics, hence, I am here asking for advice. My dad works very hard for our family and I just would like to help him any way I can.
Oddly, she called him back yesterday along with her fax number so that he can send her a copy of the bill – $ 800 or so. It seems to be going on the right track for now, but I won’t feel relieved until it’s officially over.

Thank you so much to all the people who have replied so far. I have learned so much and I’ll know what to do if I ever get into and accident. If you have any further input, please add.

Sounds like either she doesn’t want the accident going on her insurance, or worse, she has no insurance.

You may be able to take her to court if she refuses to pay.

Answer by avail_skillz
have everything well documented.
If a police report was filed on the accident and medical attention was sought immediately for any injuries, she is responsible. Whether you give her a chance to pay ou of pocket or take her to court immediatly, she is stil responsible.
More and more people will want to pay out of pocket, if they can afford it, as insurance premiums rise more than the insurance companies are paying out. If a person can afford it, it is much cheaper than paying even more over time.

But you may want to talk to an attorney to make sure there aren’t any time limits for filing with her insurance should she choose nto to pay.

Some states allow people to get bonded so they don’t have to pay insurance at all as long as the bond is valid. She may be bonded and don’t want to go through the extra hassle or expense of a lawsuit to take the bonded money as payment.

Answer by Peter C
Obviously she’s trying to not involve insurance for fear of raised rates (not an uncommon practice). Worse comes to worse you then involve insurance companies…you did get her insurance information didn’t you???

Answer by Charles M
I think that the reason that she wants to pay out of pocket is because if she reports the accident, then there is possibility that her insurance company will pull her coverage (especially if she has had a previous at-fault accident), and they will to.

Bottom line, dont trust her. But if you take a chance, make sure that she pays you in cash and that she signs some sort of statment saying that “she” was at fault and that she has made restitution giving the amount that she paid for the repairs.

If she refuses, then get her insurance company involved.

Answer by Jan
I fell for this scheme once myself,I’ll never fall for it again. The woman wanted to pay it on her own. I trusted her. I got her information,or so I thought. It was all fake. I didn’t have a police report. Needless to say,I ended up paying for the repairs myself.
I hope your dad called the police. Without a police report it is her word against his,if she even gave the right information.

Why won’t yahoo customer service respond? They asked me a question and had me fax over ID two days ago!?

Ask by Boss B!: Why won’t yahoo customer service respond? They asked me a question and had me fax over ID two days ago!?
The password for my main yahoo e-mail account all of sudden stopped working a few days ago. Now mind you, the account was established 9 years ago (420 megs of info) so how feasible is it to expect people to remember what information they used when establishing an account that long ago.

Nevertheless, I answered questions, faxed over copies of my ID and answered the security question that I used to establish the account. Guess what happened, nothing. The last time I heard from Yahoo! Account Services was over two days ago! And to make matters worse, they send me questions and ask me to fax over materials that I have already sent over.

Mind you, no one has even tried to explain how a password that I have used for over a year could just stop working suddenly. And after searching the web it appears that this is more common with Yahoo! than you would believe.

Do they always take this long to respond or is it just me?

Good Answer:

Answer by TriPolar
your identity has to be processed through the Yahoo Answers “liberalizer analysis” machine and then examined by ten misguided opinion officers before they can get back with you. You have already given them too much information. You must now leave the country.

I made a purchase online with my debit card. The company asked me to fax a copy of my picture ID to verify ? – Fax Online

fax online

Question by lafolston: I made a purchase online with my debit card. The company asked me to fax a copy of my picture ID to verify ?
I am the card holder. I never had a company ask me to fax over my ID. Does that sound fishy, sort of like a scam?

Featured answer:

Answer by juswannabeme
Sounds fishy to me! I have been asked for the 3 digit security code located on the back of the card, but not for picture ID. They would have no way of knowing if that picture of you were correct or not. I believe I would not send it.

Website asked me to fax copy of credit card and Driver license to confirm identity after buy. Is this normal?

Ask by bob_the_builder_fanatic: Website asked me to fax copy of credit card and Driver license to confirm identity after buy. Is this normal?
I assumed not and canceled the order and contacted my credit card but I wanted to see if other people have had this happen?

Selected answer:

Answer by karen g
After being in banking for years i can tell you that this is not normal. They already have you cc number from the order and there is no reason to give out your dr lic number. also, if they would ask for a social security number for any orders do not provide that. any company can ship your products just from your card number and expiration there is no reason to provide more – identity theft is a big thing right now

Answer by stan c
Never fax any info to anyone. The best and safest way to do business is in person.

Answer by mobilemark
well sometimes its necessary
I have a customer who came into our store (their son
was trying to check into a hotel and didn’t have credit card
or something like that)
so the customer had to fax a copy of her credit card and id
to the hotel to approve the charges

Answer by sloopy
it’s a ripoff, a scam, a lie, whatever.
I’ve never been asked for this stuff….. the credit card numbers are usually automatically processed..the first digits even tell the system what type of card it is….
if it was on the up and up, they’d have the systems in place to process that info.
Either it’s a very small Ma and Pa Operation and they don’t have a cdlue or it’s a ripoff….either way I’d stay clear of it, them, those, whatever……
