I just saw a special on Dateline ID about this very scam. Evidently, you will get stung for the shipping fees and never get paid.
Scam. Notice the misspellings and poor grammar throughout. It tells you to drop off donations at UPS, but it doesn’t mention how the shipping will be paid for. Also, the only way to contact these people is via Yahoo! Messenger. A legit company would have an 800 number or at least a local number so you could talk to an actual person.

I live in GA. Things had been great with our contact. Then about 2 months ago I sent him a fax having to do with my case. He has not responded to any of my repeated request for contact. When the girl that answers the phones goes in to tell him I am on the line he always tells her that he will call me back. What steps should I take?

We signed a contract when he took my case. I am worried that I can’t hire a new laywer because of it.

I think you should fire your lawyer and switch to another one. He’s incompetent or purposely avoiding you. Either situation indicates that he is not working on your case in a manner consistent with your best interests.

Find a new lawyer. Your preliminary contact was a feeler in which apparently nothing but pleasantries were exchanged. In a day where unethical behaviour is rife, particularly in a situation you have to deal with a lawyer it seems you’d be inviting disaster with someone like this. I don’t care how well placed they are. If the lawyer who’s salary you intend to pay is giving you short shrift, who’s to say how far this decidedly unprofessional behaviour will go. They’re lawyers. Not saints. It’s like a dog track bet and he’s the dog. Dogs eat their own vomit, you’ll recall. Hope this helps.

Report him to the state bar association on an ethics complaint stating that he has been neglecting your case and failing to communicate with you. That will get his attention real fast. He may not like you afterwards but you will have his attention.

Make sure you have everythign documented, then go see him and tell him if he wants to continue representing you to stop ignoring you. If you don’t like the service, report him to the Georgia Bar. But talk with him first…it maybe just a misunderstanding…and you may be able to resolve it with a lot of nonsense. Just be prepared to not let him off the hook…

I am trying to warn people about these con artist with yahoo e-mail addresses. They play on you emotions. Someone is either dying or even someone died that has your last name and a attorney contacts you and to offer you a deal with spliting millions of dollars. We have got to get the word out people. This is coming from the UK and other countries. I was taken, I was foolish, these are major con artist. They will send you official looking documents and phone #, fax#, addresses. one they sent me was from a place called Fidelity Trust Financial Service in London. Very official looking , also death certificate, accident report…documents from the High Court of Justice England and Wales. These people went by the name Keno Lesley E-mail address kenolesley@yahoo.com also Abby Young at abbyyoungeyahoo.com. There was a Neal Miller who was suppose to be a Dr. at Fidelity Trust of the dept. of internations remittance depart. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE . I LOST MONEY!!!

Hate to say this, but if you fall for a scam, especially when so many people know that these scams are happening, you have only yourself to blame. You wanted to make some easy money, you didn’t stop to think about it. Sorry, but next time maybe you’ll know better.

“If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”. This is basic common sense. There are no “freebies”. Even companies that give you something free, sell your e-mail address to many others. The main problem is people that want something for nothing. They are the easiest to scam. As you know.

i was in the process of getting letters of recommendation from 3 different people
i haven’t got a denied acceptance letter yet but my online status said Denied College
i would have all three by monday at the latest and could fax them then
i checked my online status maby 4 hours previous and it still said pending
so i’ve been denied for only a few hours
can i still send my letters of recommendation and see what happens
or should i call first and ask them will they take them into consideration ..and then decide

You need to send your resume out to real jobs you are qualified to do.
In your cover letter you need to state that you wish to work remotely, from your home office. LOTS of companies, especially in CA operate this way. They usually provide transportation for you to come in for an interview and for you to attend company meetings a few times a year, but otherwise everything is done online.

Sounds like a big scam to me! It’s an easy rule of thumb. Never give out your social security number, drivers license number, credit card, or bank account information over the internet. They are out to steal you identify, credit cards, bank account funds, saving accounts funds, or even use your accounts for unlawful proposes. if your asked to give those things, DON’T! And if you send them money upfront, than your just a plain fool!

I’ve had several offers through online companies. I would suggest checking with on the better business bureau site at www.bbb.org and also check with ripoffreports.com. I’ve saved myself and loved ones from a couple of online scams through these sites.

Did you write this passage or did they? There are NUMEROUS spelling and grammar errors. It completely sounds like a SCAM to me. Do not send them ANY information on yourself esp. your social security number, phone number or banking card numbers.
The blatant spelling errors make my stomach churn.

Due to holiday could not call court until yesterday. They had no record of fine being paid. Faxed them proof fine was paid. Was told they were trying to find out what we had to do. This evening they still don’t know what to do. If they don’t give us a solution tomorrow, I will call Bureau of Motor Vehicles. I hate to think of paying a lawyer to get this resolved. Also, don’t think we should have to pay $ 25.00 to have it reinstated, since it should never have been suspended in the first place. Anyone know where to go from here?
It was March 2010!
Got a call they are taking care of it, but it will take 3 or 4 more days before it’s okay to drive. Very upsetting to say the least!

Bought it on 5/11/05. Had a major problem 1/22/06. The screen is pixillated. Rebooted and it’s still the same so I decided to reformat. To my dismay i was not able to complete the installation because it won’t boot to windows anymore. It says installation is not complete. Definitly its the graphics card. But since it’s a laptop mobo is the question. Called the warranty dept and told me to fax them the sales receit and would repair it. but my question is not warranty anymore.I found out that the pc i bought was already registered to someone else on 2/4/05 and will expire on 2/4/06. That is why I haven’t seen my name because the pc Im tying to register has been registered. Same serial number take note. I’m so sure that the pc they sold me was a second hand one.There is really a fraud in here. By the way legally my pc’s warranty will expire on 5/11/06 if I will fax the them the proof of purchase but i won’t do it. They might updated it and I don’t want it to happen. Thanks a lot.

as long as you have the original receipt – you are the original buyer of the machine.
In which case, you have the FULL rights to the laptop.
As per their warranty terms, if your laptop is still under warranty, they should fix it.
If not, you should take the matter legally.

I would recommend to go back directly to the place you purchased the laptop from and request a refund. It seems that you are unwilling to provide the manufacturer with proof of purchase in order for them to correct the warranty issue.
I think this goes further then the warranty though, because the place that sold you the laptop repressented it as new.

I bought an GMC Suv from dealer yesterday, I went online to get a car-fax and it said the vehicle was Vandalized and had been in a minor rear collision! I called the dealer and they are telling me that I cannot return it!! I was wondering why they didn’t tell me the vehicle was in a prior accident? Can someone help please!!!! What should I do? You had the right to know about any prior accidents.
If they’re not cooperating, talk to a lawyer. I bet he’ll find a way.

Unfortunately, current laws make it the responsibility of the buyer to investigate the history and condition of used vehicles. If you purchased the vehicle “as-is” it is now your property. You should always check car-fax in advance.
That said, if you can prove that the dealer lied to your direct questions about whether it had ever been in a collision, you may be able force them to rescind the deal. But the burden of proof will be on you.

That’s all stuff you really have to consider before buying it. Of course you could pursue legal action, but it won’t really get you anywhere. There is a magic number that if the cost to repair exceeds it the dealer MIGHT be obligated to tell you about it (In BC it’s 00 per accident) But the specifics vary on where you live.
If you’re dealing with just a keying, and rear ender, at the most just take it to a body shop to see if the safety is compromised.
I’ve never had a terrible incident with buying used cars ever, but I will never buy from any independent dealer (ie: Big Buck’s Used) Manufacturer dealers, even if it’s a different make from what they sell (like my Honda being purchased at Ford) More times then not, you’re going to get the best communication, and customer service then you would otherwise. Private sales are alright too- just have to be really picky on that.

If the amount of repairs is 00 or more, the dealer is obligated, by law, to disclose this to you. This law covers all 50 states. You can sue them and report them to your local DMV. They have to rescind the deal, give you your trade-in back and your down payment in full.
The DMV can fine them for this failure to disclose or close them down for a period of time or take away their license to sell if there are other complaints against them.
If the amount of repairs is less than 00, they had an ethical responsibility to inform you. But not a legal responsibility. Did you ask if it had been in an accident? If not, it will be very difficult to get any kind of settlement from them.
But if you did and they lied to you, you do have grounds for some kind of compensation ranging from a settlement amount to rescinding the contract. Once again, contact your local DMV on this matter. They do have the authority to take action against the dealer.
If you asked about previous damage and were lied to, or if the amount of damage is more than 00, be sure to contact a lawyer … one that offers free consultation. You need to know if you have a case before you pay for his/her services.
