Q&A: Windows fax console won’t display faxes, though it used to.
My faxes used to preview as normal, but now I receive the error msg: “fax document cannot be displayed because your operating system does not have a default viewer for fax doc’s.” Don’t know how/why it changed, nor how to reset it. I’ve set the default view of My Pictures to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, but it didn’t help with displaying faxes. Thanks so much for any advice!
I assume that you have Windows XP
Try System restore. Go to Start > Help and Support and then click on the System Restore click. Choose a date on the calendar when you knw (or hope!) the fax preview was OK. System Restore will then put your settings back to those applicable at the chosen earlier date. The computer automatically restarts for the revised settings to take effect.

Right now I go into FAX CONSOLE and right click on the fax I want to send out. I select PRINT then FAX. But it sends out all of the pages of the fax when I only want to send selected pages. Using windows XP.

After you click on “Print”, do this:
Under “Print range” click on “Pages” and then fill in the page range that you want to send.
Only those pages will then be faxed.

Not without some web to fax program or supplier. Faxes use standard ol telephone lines! You can hook up your computers modem (not the DSL one) to a telephone line and use that but DSL is just internet protocol not FAX.
Here are a couple of internet faxing sites (all they do is convert to a standard phone line for you.)
