convert??
I may have misunderstood you, but according to the page
http://www.gimphelp.org/formats.shtml
you can save from GIMP into BMP or JPG, both of which can be viewed by Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
Answer by mti2935
Windows Fax Viewer is for opening TIFF files, so you need to convert the GIMP file to a TIFF file.
One way to it is to:
1) Open the GIMP image in the GIMP program
2) Then hit print. In the print dialog, select ‘Microsoft Office Document Image Writer’ as the printer, hit print. This will create an MDI document.
3) Double click on the MDI document that you created in the previous step, it should open in Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Click File.. Save As… and select TIFF as the file type. This should give you a TIFF file that you can open in WIndows Fax Viewer.
Hope this helps.

Question by fow: How to convert scanned file into PDF or Microsoft Word Format?
I used an HP scanner and scanned 2 documents that i need to fax. I could not send it in online by fax because it was not PDF or Word Format. Can someone tell me step by step how to do this? I tried doing it to Word and all i got was the microsoft word document and all the info i filled out wrong and incorrectly with weird letters. Can someone tell me what is the problem?

Converting scanned files from pictures to words is actually quite difficult (in fact, the CAPTCHAs that you have to fill out when you register for websites and so on are actually you helping the computer do that- those are all the words that computers can’t identify so they have you do it). I believe that HP scanners can attempt to do it, but as you’ve noticed, it isn’t always accurate. The Optical Character Recognition program (OCR) in Adobe Acrobat Pro is much more accurate, but it’s also a lot more expensive.

There’s an easy way to turn most documents/pictures to a PDF. First things first, you’ll need to install CutePDF Writer
http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp
So after the document is scanned you need to open it in which ever default program it opens with. Click File, then Print, then select “CutePDF Writer” as you printer in the drop down menu, then click print. the print screen will disappear and a browser box will appear pick where you want to save the PDF, then Click ok/save. You sould then be able to open the newly created PDF in Adobe Reader like any other PDF. As long as you don’t need to modify the text then this will work fine for your needs.

Nothing hard about this. Down the free optical character regenerator called Free OCR. It can read jpeg scanned images and convert them on-the-fly. It can even open them in Microsoft Word ready to be edited. You can resave in whatever format you want.

Where can I safely scan and convert to pdf file my tax return paperwork? – Fax Service
Posted by in Fax Service on December 18, 2010
Ask by Estebanico: Where can I safely scan and convert to pdf file my tax return paperwork?
I need to send a copy of my income tax return to my family abroad. They told me to fax it international to a local store over there, but I don’t know that’s safe. I was thinking about scanning the papers and converting them to pdf format, then attach them to an email so that they can open it and print it. What stores offer this service?
By the way, I don’t have a scanner, that’s why I’m looking for a business that offers this service.

Answer by lioneyexp
no adobe program, just a nifty little program called CutePDF Writer. you can find this on Download.com. after its installed, print the document (can be pictures, or text, or even a spread sheet, scanned document..etc (anything that you can print normally)) and instead of selecting your usual printer, select CutePDF. it will ask you where you want to save ( or “print”) the pdf file and you are set
Answer by Marvin
They don’t do a basic version. They do Adobe Acrobat professional for a gazillion dollars.
Try doPDF from www.dopdf.com
Same thing – but basic and free.
Answer by Nimashi Perera
there is a converter which can attach to the MS word called Pdf/Xps converter(you need genuin office for this)
oe there is a free converter works like a virtual printer called bulzip printer.
search google there are many free softwares to convert to pdf
Answer by dewcoons
The Adobe product is called Acrobat, and sells for about 0 USD.
However, there are many free products that can create basic PDFs files. I use one called CutePDF on about 300 PCs that I support.
It allows you to create a document using any program, and then you pretend like you are going to “print” the document. From the File/Print menu you change your “printer” to one listed as “PDF File”. Instead of sending the document to your physical printer, it sends it to a PDF file. (This is the same way Acrobat works.)
You can download it for free from http://cutepdf.com
Answer by David
Adobe Acrobat. But it’s too expensive.
Also you can use PDFCreator to do this job, free download at:

for this you would need an online fax number for /mo and then in the options you would just select to receive them via PDF
here’s a site that reviews the top 5 fax companies and even tells you how to get a number for free

Hi, you can try the joyfax server, which has the function of “Fax to email”. You can set up the rules to route your incoming faxes to your email address. It is quite convenient and easy-using.
Answer by Leo W/www.Faxcompare.com
You can visit Email-Fax.Choosewhat.com for a list of fax services, and then you can pick the one that best fits your needs. These services, most of the time, will provide How-To videos and step-by-step guides that will show you exactly how to set up for faxing service and begin to use it. Most providers have options for small businesses, corporate packages, and personal usage. There are also a few options that allow you to just pay for each page that are sending or receiving instead of having to sign up for a month-to-month service. I hope this helps!
