If not is there a cheaper option for faxing outside of a dedicated home line?
There are fax to e-mail services and MagicJack does work with fax machines however they do not support it. It in theory should work, but if it doesn’t you are out of luck.
It faxes, but not well. In fact, MJ does not support fax issues except to tell you to slow down the speed and turn off ECM.
I use MaxEmal. It costs a year plus about 5 or 10 cents a fax outbound. Since I use my undedicated land line to fax out, I seldom use the outbound fax of my account. In fact, I still have credit left from my initial deposit. The economy price of MaxEmail gives you an 815 area code number in Suburban Chicago. I have not had anyone complain about the different number.

I just bought a printer with fax and scanner and it is also wireless. It cost me $ 70 at Costco. It comes with ink that would cost $ 45. That means they sold the printer for $ 25. They can not make money at that price.
It is not the ink that cost a lot. It is the cartridge with a print head that we throw away.

The thinking behind this is that you’re sort of ‘tied’ to purchase inks from the same company … or go out an buy a different printer, which they assume people would be unwilling to do as they MIGHT consider that they’ve wasted money.
Believe me, if you do keep the same printer for it’s life expectancy, you’re going to spend a small fortune on ink cartridges … quids in for the printer manufacturers, who also happen to be the ink cartridge manufacturers, though there are third-party companies that make ‘compatible’ cartridges … where the law allows them.
Printers are actually quite cheap to manufacture. The only way the printer companies make money is off the ink cartridges. And they continue to make money by selling new printers, so I’d say the actually do make money at the price they sell them at. The typical iPod Touch only costs about in parts and that just need to be put together. Per unit, they’re actually worth about 0 instead of the 0 Apple charges for the 32 GB model. It’s simple economics that determines how much money printer companies make as well…they manufacture cheap and sell them for more than they’re worth. Ink cartridges should only really cost no more than per cartridge since the manufacturing costs of those are also extremely cheap.

look at it my way ,
you get store flyers in the mail every week , and those flyers are covered with tons of ink .
and lots of paper , so they don’t even charge you for all this paper covered with all this ink .
so in my opinion we are vastly riped off on ink prices , they are making a killing on ink .
think about it .
well if the ink does not cost much than what are empty cartridge worth ?
yes. but they get to write them off for the loss revenue.

My Question: How much would a 1994 camry with 131k miles on it would cost?
A dealer is selling a 1994 Camry, base line, for $ 2500. 5 Speed manual, roll down windows, 131K miles, interior is good, exterior is good, some rock chips in the front, antenna is broken, radio is missing 2 buttons, new clutch (thats what the dealer said)
Would 2500 be a good price for the Camry and the things that i listed on here? Clean title. He said he could check car fax also and show me.

My Question: Lower cost to run a laser printer fax?
I am a professional who receives a ton of faxes and does a modest amount of printing. I read that Kodak has the lowest ink prices but the problem is that we get so many faxes, that we need a laser based machine so there is a larger ink capacity and we don’t have faxes in memory. Can anybody tell me what is the lowest cost to run, best ink capacity laser (if that is indeed cheaper to run than inkjet) that is compatible with MAC?

Sending faxes (local) does not cost anything. Read manual again and check all connections–try sending yourself a fax and see what happens. U can give me fax # and I can send one right now

it does not cost anything,
check the machine by test page print out
and then make and receive calls on the machine
there is a setting in fax machines that it should give fax tone after ….many rings so set it to may be 5 or 6 that is you to decide after how many rings fax machine should start receiving the fax.
If all connections are ok then probably connecting cable may not be ok that is why asked you to make outgoing call and receive a call you will know whether or not your connectivity is ok

I don’t think any phone company differentiates the use of the line in this way.
If your fax machine communicates with another of the same generation (especially using long distance tolls) the time for usage of the line (for shorter faxes) will be below the amount of time set for the minimum use of the line(s).

On a POTS line, it does not cost more than the cost of the call, and as far as that goes, there is no special rate for fax or data calls.
On VOIP, there may be a premium for getting a fax/modem service.

I assume that you have a landline that the fax machine is plugged into. In any case, you will be charged for the fax the same as you are charged for a voice call.

It will cost as if you were making a long-distance phone call from the landline, depending on your long-distance provider. The time will be calculated when the connection first is made with the number you are faxing it to, up until the point when the last page is sent.
