Q&A: Windows fax console won’t display faxes, though it used to.
My faxes used to preview as normal, but now I receive the error msg: “fax document cannot be displayed because your operating system does not have a default viewer for fax doc’s.” Don’t know how/why it changed, nor how to reset it. I’ve set the default view of My Pictures to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, but it didn’t help with displaying faxes. Thanks so much for any advice!

I assume that you have Windows XP

Try System restore. Go to Start > Help and Support and then click on the System Restore click. Choose a date on the calendar when you knw (or hope!) the fax preview was OK. System Restore will then put your settings back to those applicable at the chosen earlier date. The computer automatically restarts for the revised settings to take effect.

Does the Canon MP530 display a fax completed screen on the actual machine when successfully completing a fax?

Question by vancouver_2010: Does the Canon MP530 display a fax completed screen on the actual machine when successfully completing a fax?
I am having some problems sending a fax since it is the first time I have used this function on my MP530. I don’t know if the machine will show a screen that displays a “completed”. Also, does it dial after every page you send in a fax? Any other details you have would be helpful.

No – it does not! It simply comes back to the same screen display that was there prior to sending the Fax.

By Santa Claus: How can I make windows picture & fax viewer (vista) show pictures on my external display?
Windows stupid fvcking vista always wants to do the slideshows on the primary display, even when initiated from the secondary display. Well we just got vista and I’m trying to give a presentation here, how do I make it show the img files on the secondary display?
sorry I meant windows photo gallery… anything?

Good luck with the photo gallery, Mine has stopped working all together twice and each tiome i had to recover my system to make it work again, it is one of vistas flaws,,

either “drag” the viewer to the other display or set the secondary display as the default or use the presentation settings to use the secondary display for full screen applications…..this can be done either through the settings for presentation or video settings with the Nvidia desktop manager or the display settings built into Vista.

It really isn’t a unique thing to Vista….this is a cross platform adjustment you have to make. Although the program is being accessed from the secondary display, the settings are such as to use the default display.

Make your Epson your default printer as opposed to your fax software. To to that go to Page Setup, printer and choose the printer there.
