Help – Consumers Energy mistake – pay bill?

Q&A: Help – Consumers Energy mistake – pay bill?
I used the online contact form to tell Consumers to shut off my service before moving. Then I called them. Now they are saying they have no record of that and asking me to pay for months of service i didn’t use. Is there a way out of this bill? They told me to fax paperwork stating house is going back to bank, but there is no proof bank had it in posession at that point. It’s consumers fault, but I have no records to prove I sent them info to cancel.

Did you not keep a record of the online transaction? If not BAD move.

Without a printed copy or email confirmation its going to be hard to prove. You may in fact be liable for time until the property changed hands. The reason is that mail should have been forwarded and they will continue to send bills until service is canceled.

See if you can provide any other proof of move (for example, did you move into a rental property and sign a lease or for any utilities there?) That might be sufficient.

Failing that, see if you can negotiate to split the difference at least.

People are going to wear warm coats this winter anyway. Its not going to make much of a political statement. I’ve never been big for fur, even faux fur, I prefer wool coats.

Answer by Denise J
Wear fur if you can afford it. I have a red fox stroller and I love it. It’s really warm.

No, it’s not.

FAQ: TXU Energy is claiming I didn’t pay my bill in December and sent a letter threatening to discontinue service. – Fax Service

Ask by Corona: TXU Energy is claiming I didn’t pay my bill in December and sent a letter threatening to discontinue service.
I pay my bills online and sometimes over the phone and I checked my bank account for the month of december and the payment is showing up on my bank statement for the amount in question and shows that it went to TXU. I told the guy this and he wants me to fax this over to him and he said if the company approves this as proof of payment, they won’t disconnect my service. I told him I guarantee that if service is disconnected that I will in fact be suing that company. Our energy bill runs close to 370.00 a month and I have never missed, or been late on a payment. Has anyone else been through this? Can they NOT accept the bank statement with their TXU name by the amount in question as proof of payment? I am so angry and frustrated at this as I have never had this type of problem from a company before. Thanks for any answers you have, or similar stories you can share.

Its entirely possible that your bank screwed up ad sent the payment to a wrong account. Its also possible that the wrong account number was attached to your payment (by the bank or by yourself…) and that the payment was, therefore, applied to someone else’s account.

A third possibility is that TXU banking records are incorrect, and that they “lost” record of the payment.

In two out of three possible scenarios, you are the one at fault.

It will be just as easy as pie to call your bank, collect the proof that the payment was sent, and get the situation resolved. If I were you, I would try to avoid getting a reputation for threatening to sue the People you will have to do business with every month. They’re just doing their jobs, and if you are abusive, they will note your file and you will have a lot harder time getting routine service. No one wants to be the one who has to deal with a belligerent , angry customer.

the bank statement is a legal tender
it means that the bank clear the payment that you made- send them a copy
company’s don’t care about good paying costumers those good times are over
they are more or less like the Mafia

Once they receive a copy of your statement, TXU can reconcile the amount and date with their records showing the deposit into their accounts. Since it may be on a batch deposit, as many electronic payments are sent all at once with many other people’s payments, they need to compare and verify. Glitches happen, and it could have just been applied elsewhere. Just send the statement and I’m sure TXU will work this out. Be polite yet firm with customer service, and try not to get too frustrated with the agent. If one agent is not helpful or polite, ask for a supervisor or call back and get another agent. Good luck!
