Fax Service: Why do callers receive a faxing noise when calling my home phone, when we don’t own a fax machine?
Maybe once a week or so, friends and family calling our house phone receive a fax noise. My husband & I have heard it ourselves when calling the house. We don’t even own a fax machine! There are also times that we hear our voices echo back when on a call, and clicking sounds. All the phones in the house a cordless and are pretty much the best you can buy, not cheap phones, (I don’t thnk that has much to do w/ anything anyway). It seems nobody knows what this could be, not even the phone company. The phone company said that IT IS NOT somebody trying to fax us simutaneously as the person that is calling us.So, we would like to know if there are any other reasons for this to happen? Is our phone being tapped, and our conversations being recorded for some odd reason? Please, somebody tell us what’s going on?
RE: Awesome…..If you read my question, you would have noticed that I did in fact call the phone company (AT&T) and they could not give me an answer. So you’re the Tard Monkey, little boy.Everyone else, thank you for your time and giving me your respectful feedback.By the way, I do not have dial-up, but I do have a network of computers, so that very well might be the problem.Thank you.
your phone line is crossed with someone elses . Call ATT for repair.
Dont you think that your phone provider would be better suited to answer this question tard monkey?
if you have dial up and you only have one line it will do that when people call
Your lines are crossed up. Contact your telephone service provider to have this fixed.
Do you have a PC or laptop connected to the land line?… some modems/software interdict incoming calls as fax transmissions. Try calling with the computer connected and any fax software running and then try without. Hope that it works for you. Best regards.

How does faxing work?
Posted by in Fax Driver on January 20, 2012

Question: How does faxing work?
If I buy a normal fax machine, what plugs into what? I already have a land line at home. Would I need to install a secondary line just for the fax or could I use it with the existing land line?
Thanks
Fax machines are actually pretty basic equipment.
They send data over your phone line much like it would if you had a DialUp Internet connection.
Unlike The Internet though, it will not take long to Receive/Send a Fax.
A Fax simply needs a Power Supply, and to Be Plugged into a Phone Jack. You will also need to obtain a Number for the Machine in order to send/receive any faxes.
Unless you plan to be Faxing alot…there is no need to get a seperate telephone line. Buying an inexpensive Telephone Jack Splitter will rout Fax’s to your Machine and Calls to your Telephone, so you wont need to worry about picking up your fax machine to a Call or not picking up and letting your fax machine answer a voice call.
no you can use your normal land line. unless you want the fax to have its own number. things to think about is will the fax be used alot if not then use your normal numbers
Fax machines use phone lines. Most fax machines have an input and an output, so you don’t need to install a secondary line. All you would need to do is plug a phone line from a phone jack into the Input, and then run another phone line from the output, into your telephone, if you want to connect one. Faxing something is very easy. The machine will have to scan the paper. Then, you would enter the fax number. Then, it would send the document electronically, and another person will receive your paper. This is very easy, once you get used to it.
Unless you would use your fax machine for business I don’t think its worth to get another line for your fax machine.
I don’t recommend taking any of those stressful and out-dated steps.
Since you have a computer and internet, you’re pretty much good to go, you can take care of all your faxing needs for something like a month.

FAQ: Do you know of a cheap landline to use for faxing.?
Posted by in Fax Free on December 10, 2011

Question: Do you know of a cheap landline to use for faxing.?
We use our cell phones for calls but I need to be able to use my fax machine. I’m looking for the cheapest way to fax other than e-fax.
I do. But cheap landlines are dependent on where you live and what you order. There is no ” all you can eat” landline services.
Start with your telco’s next to lifeline service rate. Then check with an alternative dial tone supplier. When you have those rates, check the VoIP suppliers that support T.38 or specific faxing. In our area, the local cable company will supply a fax compliant line and no other features for about a month.
This may not seem cheap at first, but consider an Ooma. It’s an internet phone device and it allows faxing. After you buy the device it’s free free free. Has a 30 day money back guarantee so it can’t hurt to try. Sold at Amazon, Best Buy, and Costco among others.
Internet faxing is truly one of the best ways to fax, and now many services such as RingCentral and Nextiva offer features that allow you to fax from your cellphone. Check out http://faxfromacomputer.com/ for more information.

FAQ: dose yahoo allow faxing ?

Fax Service: dose yahoo allow faxing ?
Faxing over internet?
Answer by Matt Gerchow
You can send via Yahoo! mail but first you would have to get affiliated with an online fax service like efax, metro fax or ring central.
Then you could type in the fax number and the fax company direct from your yahoo mail account.
It would be something like this…
1. Open up Yahoo! mail.
2. Type the fax number and company ex. 2056784445@efax.com
3. Click send and the fax is on its’ way.
Pretty simple.
Hope that helps.
Answer by Lo Shana
If you want to send and receive your faxes via your yahoo mail box, create an account with www.Axiatel.com, I have this service for free (for 30 days) it’s pretty cool

Why is FAXING an item still preferred over e-mailing a scan in this day and age? – Fax Internet
Posted by in Fax Internet on November 12, 2011

Ask by randomtitle: Why is FAXING an item still preferred over e-mailing a scan in this day and age?
I’m seriously confused. With the existence of E-Fax.com, et al, you can send a fax via the Internet anyway. So why are some companies still so insistent that you fax them a document? Is there some security issue I’m not aware of here?
Dunbar Pappy: That’s the thing, it isn’t tamper proof. I could mock up something on Photoshop, go through an outfit like E-Fax, and send a company a fraudulent document without them ever knowing.
Dr. Who: It just seems that with all the internet security software out there, this shouldn’t be an issue anymore. At the very least, with the larger companies, I wonder why they don’t have some type of “quarantine room” within their systems to hold questionable e-mails with attachments until they can be proven to be safe to enter the rest of the system.

Maybe companies don’t have e-fax, they have the normal fax. Why spend money on something that doesn’t need to be upgraded. And they will have a hard copy of the document right away
Answer by Dr Who
To keep their internal network as secure as possible, many do not allow outside email.
Answer by Dunbar Pappy ϟϟ
Tamper resistance.
Answer by Windowphobe
Not to mention the fact that rather a lot of office workers wouldn’t know how to open an attachment to an email, even if local security allowed them to do so.

faxing credit card details?
Posted by in Fax Online on November 4, 2011

Ask by 7oss87: faxing credit card details?
hi
i am about to book a hotel room online, the hotel wants me to fax my credit card details. do i send the credit card number only or should i send the security code as well?
also, is faxing my credit card details safer than online booking?
thanks
Featured answer:
Answer by Cheryl G
If you are faxing your credit card number, do not include the security code. If you are booking online, you should be able to access the hotel’s secure site for using credit cards. Neither is totally safe, frankly, but the online sites may be safer than faxing. After all, you don’t know where the fax is received and who might have access to your information.
