My Question: If I ask my dog’s regular vet to fax his records to a different vet, will they need permission from my mom?
Well, I’m taking my dog to the vet, and sort of trying to do it behind my mom’s back. My mom is a completely irrational person. Our dog has been licking and biting his feet (sometimes until they bleed) for FOUR years and my mom (and dad too) have never done a thing about it. My mom doesn’t seem to get how serious this is and that he must have allergies. She’s convinced herself that the dog does this because he’s bored (yeah, I’m sure he likes to entertain himself by making his paws bleed…), and also thinks the sound of the dog licking is annoying and irritating. The dog is doing it all the time but she just yells at him, punishes him by putting him in his crate, steps on his feet, or smacks him. And she’s too stupid to figure out that since he’s still doing it 4 years later, obviously her yelling and crating and hitting him hasn’t done a thing.

So anyway, I’ve already scheduled an appointment to the vet on Thursday. I’m taking him for an exam first before doing any allergy testing because I need to find out whether or not that’s what he needs, and I’d also probably need to save a bit more money to afford that. But, the vet that he normally goes too was too expensive for me, so I started checking the prices at other vets, and I found one that was a bit cheaper, and that offered to just start out with an exam before doing allergy testing. I called them today to give them my information, but they need my dog’s medical records. I told them I would call or e-mail his regular vet and ask them to fax his records to them. But I’m wondering, are they going to have to have my mom’s permission or anything? She’s always the one taking him to that vet (yeah, she takes him for checkups and stuff but still won’t even ask about his paws) and I know her name must be the one in their system. I’m legally an adult (just barely) but I guess I’m not like, the dog’s “legal” owner. So will they be able to fax over the info just from me asking? I just really don’t want them to call my mom or tell me I need to ask her or anything. I don’t want to tell my mom my plans right now because I don’t want her to try to stop me from taking him. I got the appointment scheduled for a time that she’ll be gone, tutoring her kids (yeah, she tutors little elementary kids, yet she treats a dog like this, isn’t that scary?)
And also, I did try to talk to my mom a long time ago (back when this all first started) and convince her to just take him to the vet because he probably had allergies. But that’s when she just insisted that the dog does it for no reason/out of boredom. I had gotten really upset at her because she had just slapped him for licking his paws, yet she just rolled her eyes and was offended that I thought she was “mistreating” him. So yeah, I know this is my only option, because I cannot reason with my mom or convince her to take care of the dog herself. I’m the dog’s only hope.
I just turned 18. That’s what I meant by just barely lol. But yeah, I am legally an adult.
I really don’t think he’s bored because he will literally just lay around and lick/bite for hours non-stop. You can try to give him a toy that he likes and even then he just keeps licking and gnawing. But I have also heard that dogs can do it due to anxiety. So I do believe it started out as an allergy, but with the way my mom treats him, she may have just made the problem worse, because she likely made the dog anxious and that could have made him lick even more. Also, the dog’s feet are usually red and inflamed.

ask the vet that you are going to be taking him to to call your old vet and have them fax the information to them directly. saves you having to call your vet and they can get all the records they need. easy.

I went to a checkup – JUST a checkup for my dog, and I needed to be 18. I asked if they could just let it go anyways since they knew my mom. They still had to fax her a forum and she had to sign it and fax it back….

since the dog is hers and in her name, the vet may not fax information without her consent. You can call and ask, but odds are they will want her consent.

the dog could be chewing on his feet out of boredom.. OCD behavours can include self-mutilation. In which case the dog needs more exercize or mental stimulation to correct it- not slapped around. Try redirecting the dog with exercise or some other activity when you catch him licking or chewing.

But allergies are more likely, I agree. Food allergies are more likely the cause. If possible, try switching brands.. (im sure if you just started buying the dog food, mom would feed it?) You can also try a lil benedryll and see if that helps.. 1 mg per pound of body weight- read the labelling to figure out how many mg is in a dose, and adjust the dose (I *think* children’s has 12 mg per dose, and adult is 25?) if its a small dog, its easier to use the children’s liquid to get the proper dose)

These are some suggestions I offer until you can figure out how to get the dog to the vet for an opinion.

another option- go with mom to the dog’s next checkup. While the vet is doing the checkup mention the feet chewing right there.

What do you mean by “just barely” a legal adult? You’re either 18 or not. Many vets will not deal with underage persons as underage persons cannot legally own a dog or sign contracts. You can always call your regular vet and explain the situation – they can tell you outright wether or not they can transfer the records for you.

My dog is registered at the vet under my mom’s name (since she owned our previous dog) but i am allowed to make appointments, bring my dog in, etc etc without her being present. But i am 22.

Chewing on the feet CAN be an obsessive disorder caused by boredom. Can also be allergies or some sort of sensitivity to something in the home (detergent, carpet cleaner, or even outdoor stuff like road salt.)

You could always try to schedule an appointment with the current vet JUST for an examination. Allergy testing wasn’t even recommended with my dog (who also chewed her feet) – the vet just said to change to a food with no corn, no grains, and a fish/potato base. She stopped chewing for the most part, although once and a while we suspect she steps in something that irritates her feet and she licks a little bit (never to the point of blood though.)

Plenty you can try long before trying allergy testing (which CAN be costly) including change of food, increase of activity, etc etc.

You can just take him to the new vet and don’t have to have the records. Tell the new vet the situation and ask if they really need the records and if so they’ll have an idea how to get them.
It’s great that you are willing and able to step up and take care of this sad situation.

But is the dog bored? Sounds like this could be an obsession. Bored or anxious dogs can develop obsessions so it may not be an allergy. Be sure to discuss this scenario with the vet as well.

What do you think? Answer below please!

My Question: I am buying a used scion TC from a private seller. what should i be looking at to make sure the car is good?
I have already looked up the carfax, and the car has a clean car fax. I have already test driven the car to make sure i like what i am driving and getting into. I also popped the hood and looked in the hood for oil leaks or new parts (as thats the sign as an accident). It looks like the car was never in an accident.

Should i be looking at the maintainence records? and what should i be looking in the maintainence records? Should i call any scion dealer to ask anything about this car (as i have the VIN# of the car)?.

The car is 2005 with 35k miles. It has minor scratches on the body (Nothing too big). I am getting the car for $ 11,800. Is this a good price? And the car is the base model with automatic tranny with LOJACK (its helpful to trace the car if it ever gets stolen) and remote starter.

Any help regarding this will be greatly appreciated.

with 35k miles there is nothing major to worry about so you can buy it with no problem

give a full tune up when you get the car and you are done

Fax Service: I received an Email from the Royal Bank of Scotland, stating I needed to get in touch with them to claim my $?
I Emailed them back and asked what winnings? They told I had won
a lottery that was done through Email address and I needed to make arrangements to claim my funds. They also stated to me that
there was no cost on my part, that all I had to do was fill out the forms
to open up an internet bank account so that once they have received
the forms they require, then they will ask for the clearence of the funds
and transfer them into my internet account. They sent me the forms through Email attachments, and I went ahead and filled them out, and instead of emailing them back signed and with informations, I emailed
the Bank manager whose name is JAMES CRAWFORD and told him
I would fax the forms to him. I went down to fax the forms only to be told that they won’t go through that they needed the international code.
So I came back home and did some research on my own through the
International Fraudwatch/Alert and found nothing. So I went ahead
and googled the address of the Bank and up came EMAIL SCAM.
I went ahead and Emailed Mr. Crawford back and explained my situation and also found that the ADDRESS WAS A SCAM, and the
I was going to report him. I received an Email back today, telling me
that they had used the Banks address to impersonate it, but guaranteed me that this was no scam and gave me another number
to fax my papers. So I went back online and enter the address again
and found a webpage with 40,000 plus address’ for the Royal Bank Of
Scotland in and around the London area.. I also looked up the phone
number and it is valiad. So my question is should I pursue this and
send them the forms? I already reported the Email to the International
Fraudwatch. The forms just asked for my signature to open up the account and my address. I hope some one can shed some light on
this forme. Out of all the Emails I receive about Lotteries and having Won, One is bound to be real don’t you think?

This one i checked out weeks ago it is scam

ignore the email completely. don’t fill out any forms. don’t ring them. delete the email. if you progress they may trick you into draining your current bank account.

That was very unwise thing to do.

This is a scam and it is spam.
In any case, do you really think that the RBS has spare cash to give away at the moment? I think not.

Any email from any bank asking for personal details of any sort is likely to be spam. Don’t even read it let alone reply to it! Filter such emails straight into the trash.

That message is both a fake and an outright fraud. Don’t give the phishers any of your personal information at all. Spam that scam message straight into oblivion right away. This is one lottery you’ll never win because it’s “bogus.”

Another thing, the phishers telling you to “keep this lottery information confidential” would indicate to you not to say anything about this to anybody until they have finished scamming you.

Please leave your answer in the comments! Thanks.

My Question: What rights does a consumer have in getting an estimate from a water damage restoration company?
I was hit by the floods in the Midwest from the heavy rainstorms a couple weeks back. A resoration company came out and refused to provide me with a written estimate at the time of arrival (promised to fax me one when they got back to the office). They told me they would set up the equipment (dehumidifiers & fans) to draw the water out while they worked on the estimate because the water was so bad. They didn’t provide it to me for 3 days and it was 5 times the price of what another franchisee had quoted of the same company. I immediately told them to remove all equipment and I wouldn’t work with them, now they are trying to get me to pay 75% of the “estimate” because they did “work”?

the list should grow, but I would start with
1- the better business bureau
2-your state attorney general
3-your local county attorney
4-your local newspaper
5-call FEMA, they may can help
6- your rep and senator, this may be federal violation

If they are 5 times as high, chances are they have jacked prices because of the flood, this is not good.

I have told people that I dont mind being the highest bid , just as long as I am not twice as high.
My theory is you get what you pay for , but this falls out of this catagory.
Good luck with your project, come back and tell how it turned out.
As good as you can,,Have a great day, dont loose faith in mankind because of these crooks

I would definitely follow the advice given to you by the prior poster “daorangejell”. In addition send them a letter with a copy of the competitors written estimate and send a copy to the Franchiser telling them in no uncertain terms that what they are doing is tantamount to extortion. Further inform them that you will be taking all necessary steps to denounce what they are doing publicly. I am quite certain that they will not want the bad publicity and the Franchiser will very likely get involved.

The most important thing is for you to keep at this. If they threaten to sue, let them and take all your documents including that other estimate to court–I am sure that any judge after hearing the evidence will not award them a dime.

Unfortunately unscrupulous operators like this one are banking on your sense of desperation and vulnerability. Shame on them!

Also do not feel bad this happens everywhere–I am in the Mid-Atlantic and when we have large windstorms that knock down some of our large oak trees you will have companies come and tell our clients that they will remove it and not to worry that the insurance will pay and then bill for 4 and 5 times the amount and most of the time if the tree was not directly on the house the insurance company will not pay and the client is in big trouble. Your case is much stronger because you have the other estimate.

Good Luck.

Please leave your answer in the comments! Thanks.

Hmmm, me thinks maybe not

idk.. well u should try it out i guess actually it looks kinda fake..

Total crap.

It’s a really common email scam. But let’s look at the obvious proof that it is fake. First off, we are expected to believe that Yahoo! gets together with some large unnamed multinational corporations and just gives £5,000,000 or ,000,000 away every month to random email accounts? They claim this is for ‘social responsibility.’ Well that doesn’t really sound socially responsible, just giving large sums of money five random people around the world every month. Right there that sounds pretty dumb.

Then for the final bit they claim that as well as giving away £60m per year in ‘small’ prizes, they also have a high stakes draw for one billion dollars? Yeah right. Not even the lotteries give this much away. What kind of companies would get together to give away a billion dollars? For no reason? To random people. If this were true, don’t you think it would be advertised on TV or something? Why would a company want to anonymously give away a billion dollars?

No, the most likely explanation is this is a scam, and once you send your personal details to them, they will use this information to steal from you.

Sorry friend. If you did not buy a ticket remember this. You don’t get anything for nothing, it’s a scam do not answer do not give personal information. The following sites give more information. www.scambusters.org www.scambusters-419.co.uk The iinternet is safe enough if you are careful but please answer nothing that you are doubtful about.Good Luck and be careful.
