Fax Service: how do I get my windows fax and picture viewer to work? Its not working since I installed paintshop pro9?
there may be a conflict between the new software you installed and the base windows excessory. Either delete the software or find out if the software has a (set as default) button. You may have to read the troubleshooting section in the book that came with the software.
go to My Computer and click on tools on the tool bar.
then click on folder options. in the windoe that opens click on the tab that says file types. when the list appers scroll down to the extenchion of the file type that you are trying to open with the picture and fax viewer. click on it then ckick on the button at the bottom that says changein the section that gives the detials for that file type. the slect picture and fax viewer and click ok. to open that picture in the picture editor then in stead of dubble clicking in it right click on the picture and put your mouse over “open with” the slect the program that you want to open the picture or file with. if the program you want to use is not in the list then run or start up the program and open the picture within that program. hope that helps

Q&A: had a seperate phone line installed for my fax machine but when machine turned on phone won’t work?
Posted by in Fax Driver on January 17, 2012

My Question: had a seperate phone line installed for my fax machine but when machine turned on phone won’t work?
I take it you have dsl guessing of course if you do then your phone needs a dsl filter on it. Or is that second phone line a SECOND PHONE LINE? is it hooked to the fax line somewhere and they said ok it is fixed and ripped you? you can check that out put a phone on both lines then try to call the other line see if it rings or busy
if it does then hmm replace the dsl filter that is cheap! if thatis used then it could be a loose phone service? from the pole to the house that might run you upto to get checked but when the phone wire runs in your house you check it!ifit looks ok then unplug everything else but phones and fax and have someone fax and phone you on the other line see if it works if it does start plugging things in one by one until it stops working then you will find the bugger. if it is down to the phones and the fax try a phone to phone first then phone to fax it might be the Fax

I just installed a new printer and the fax keeps showing ‘phone off hook’ error?

Fax Service: I just installed a new printer and the fax keeps showing ‘phone off hook’ error?
The printer is an HP all in one J6480 and we also have multiple lines. right now the fax is hooked to the same line as one of our overflow phone lines using an old US West splitter. I have tried all the recommended tasks to get the fax to work, and I have also checked the phone cord by bypassing the splitter and it works. Is there anyone who has had this problem or one like it? I think I need to get a newer connector for the splitter? Any ideas would be great!
Either that, or there are too many items on the phone line. Each splitter takes away a little current. If you have too many, there’s not enough current to pass a signal, thus “off hook”.
Hi there, I have been recommending that printer.
It has fax to pc feature so you wouldn’t have to print out all the fax you receive. Downside is you can only save it in black and white.
A “Phone Off Hook” message is not an error. It’s possible that splitter is broken. Run fax test off of printer. Press setup> tools> run fax test to determine the problem.

Ask by baconbuttyman: just installed Ubuntu, just one prob tho?
i am a novice when it comes to linux, microsoft bloatware i am very good with and i am not an idiot when it comes to pc’s.
But for the life of me i cant work out how to install my digi camera or printer, i dont know where the drivers are for them, the installation of ubuntu has gone smoothly and am inpressed, i did not even have to install any drivers for the wifi network adaptor. so any advice on locating or installing the drivers would be great, its a sony cybershot p70 camera and a brother mcf 240c all in one with fax.

Hi, u may try visiting http://www.ubuntuforums.org There should be a guide on how to install printers. Its a little long but its not difficult. As for ur camera, it should work, in the add/remove programs section u may need to install some new application that will allow u to access ur camera. Also if u type “dmesg” in the terminal with ur hardware connected, it will give u an idea whether its detected or not. There should also be a guide for ur digital camera, but don’t worry both of ur hardware will work on Ubuntu and if u r using the latest 7.10 version then u don’t need to worry much as hardware support is excellent. I hope I helped.
Good Luck!

FAQ: New PSU installed, now no sound and no usb ports. Help?!?!?!? – Fax Driver
Posted by in Fax Driver on May 13, 2011

Ask by Nick H: New PSU installed, now no sound and no usb ports. Help?!?!?!?
I installed a new psu and, after swapping out my USB mouse and keyboard for ps2 ones, i was able to reboot the pc and log on to my xp profile. Now none of my usb ports work, nor my sound or my printers. the printers are all installed okay, the drivers are installed and they show up in the printers and faxes panel. I can also turn them online but I cannot print. My sound has also stopped working since I exchanged the old psu for the new one. I really have no idea what to do next and i don’t want to have to rebuild the computer again. Can i try soemthing else first or do i just have to format my hard drive and start all over again?
Thanks for the reply Gunny, Unfortunately I am not sure how to do what you suggested. Can you tell me how I check the BIOS for IRQ conflicts and how do I check the DMA for conflicts?
I still need someone to tell me how I check the BIOS for IRQ conflicts and how do I check the DMA for conflicts

Ok
First you need to look into your BIOS , and see if you have IRQ conflicts , then check the DMA to see if you have any address crossing , After you do this write down the answers and write with them so i can help you what to do next
Answer by HEAC
If the sound problems occur intermittently, there could be a interrupt conflict problem. Uninstall the audio and sound drivers and restart the computer. The computer will automatically reinstall the required drivers and the problem will be resolved. For more information you can check the following site: http://fixit.in/sound.html I find the information givenin the site is more useful

yes and it comes with a cd rom that easily explains how to install
Answer by nascar20grl
You need to install a printer if you want to print anything at all but other than that you don’t need a printer for nothing else.
Answer by arlene k
You need a printer only if you need to use one. If you don’t have a printer, none will show up in “printers and faxes.”

You may have to login as each user and install the printer under each login. If you don’t use the fax, delete it.
Answer by Vikram N
try sharing the printer..
