I would say it’s a scam. Anyone who asks for private info is usually up to no good. Look in your phone book & get the number for Exxon & check with them to see if they are running any such competition/award scheme. Don’t use the phone number given to you in the email as it may not be genuine.

If you have DSL, make sure you don’t have a phone filter on the line you connected to the fax. The phone filter blocks all digital coding, computer or fax.
If you’re on dial-up and the computer and fax are daisy chained together, you can’t fax while being online.
Also, make sure that the phone line is plugged into the right port. Most fax machines have two jacks- one to connect a telephone and one to connect the printer to the wall jack

Fax Service: I just installed a new printer and the fax keeps showing ‘phone off hook’ error?
The printer is an HP all in one J6480 and we also have multiple lines. right now the fax is hooked to the same line as one of our overflow phone lines using an old US West splitter. I have tried all the recommended tasks to get the fax to work, and I have also checked the phone cord by bypassing the splitter and it works. Is there anyone who has had this problem or one like it? I think I need to get a newer connector for the splitter? Any ideas would be great!
Either that, or there are too many items on the phone line. Each splitter takes away a little current. If you have too many, there’s not enough current to pass a signal, thus “off hook”.
Hi there, I have been recommending that printer.
It has fax to pc feature so you wouldn’t have to print out all the fax you receive. Downside is you can only save it in black and white.
A “Phone Off Hook” message is not an error. It’s possible that splitter is broken. Run fax test off of printer. Press setup> tools> run fax test to determine the problem.

I have an HP Officejet 7210 All-in-One and it was somebody elses before mine. They already have a fax number set up am I suppose to change the number or is that the number that comes with it ?
If it is attached to your own phone line it will have your number. Businesses usually have a separate phone line just for their fax machines but you don’t have to.
The number that’s “set up” in your machine is just cosmetic. Essentially, this is the number that is transmitted to the fax machine on the other end of the transaction for identification purposes. It has no bearing on the actual number. That is determined by the phone line you connect your fax machine to. Typically you’ll have a dedicated line for faxing, or you can share a single line between voice and fax calls, but either way, the number is determined by the phone company that’s providing the line.
PS – There is also a company called FaxLogic (which I use) that lets you connect your fax machine to the Internet. In that case, FaxLogic assigns you a number (you can choose the area code and city you want from their website). In any case, the FaxLogic service is an alternative to having a dedicated phone line for your fax, but it essentially works the same way (or actually better).

Every time I want to use my fax wizard (which was working just fine) it tells me the server can not be found. How do I fix this?
your fax wizard program is fine. It is telling you it can’t find the server it needs to communicate with in order to operate. This is a distinctly separate device from your computer, probably at the ISP your signed up with, and these 2 devices are having difficulty chatting because of a fault, either at your end or theirs. Call the ISP first, and tell tech support there specifically what is happening, and there is a good chance they will know what to do.

No need for land lines for personal and business calls, I use cell phone for incoming and outgoing calls.
not going to get a land line for free… cheaper is going to be the metered or message rate service, where you pay per minute for all calls… should be around per month plus any usage, taxes and fees…
i would consider looking into an efax provider if i was you – your incoming faxes will be sent to your email as a PDF file (usually) and you can scan then email your outgoing faxes – and they will be sent to the fax machine of who ever you are faxing..
FaxLogic has exactly what you’re looking for. Their “Classic 100″ service is a /month plan that connects your fax machine (or all-in-one) to your Internet connection by way of a small device they call an Internet Fax Adapter. The adapter gives you a low-cost fax line that works anywhere you have Internet access. They can move your existing fax number or assign you a new one anywhere in the US (or even a toll-free fax number).
I use their more advanced service with my Brother MFC all-in-one (my particular model–an MFC-9840CDW–is actually supported “natively”, so it works with FaxLogic without an adapter). The plan I have (“Private 500 Pro”) adds support for fax-to-email, email-to-fax, and web-fax through their web portal. It also archives everything I send or receive, even paper faxes I send through my Brother MFC, into online folders that look and work pretty much like Outlook. I signed up earlier this year and I’ve had no problems, so I have no problem recommending this service.

I want to buy a car that is pretty cheap and sounds too good to be true but I don’t want to spend 34.99 to find out why it has 15 records. Does anyone know a place that’s actually trust worthy and works for cheaper?
Rule 1: See the car in person. Did you do this?
Rule 2: Pay an independent mechanic to put the car on a lift and inspect it.
Don’t worry about carfax. Even if it’s good, if you haven’t seen the car, then it is a SCAM and you will lose all your money.
So… Look at it in person, and a mechanic too. Good luck.

No it just means they are testing you to see if you have evidence of drugs in your system.

I sent a letter thru email and fax . All of my batch mates are already in canada. where can i call directly to them not using the toll fee? i’ve already spend thousands pesos on phone call and i am always on hang.

3 months is just too short to know the answer of your application, you just have to wait a little or a year or more.But you can check your application status at www.cic.gc.ca
But you have to type in your file number if you already have it.
