Do I have to have two line to add a fax machine to my home business?

Question: Do I have to have two line to add a fax machine to my home business?
Own home business going to purchase a fax machine. Do I have to have 2 lines.
I have a home business, and I have two lines. one for the phone one for the fax
No.
My fax machine listens is a combination fax machine/answering machine. If I’m not home, it listens for the difference between voice and tone and responds accordingly.
If I am home and it turns out to be a fax, I hit *9 and the machine switches over.
No. I use a single line which has a phone, and a phone out on it. I can pick up the call if I wanted to or I could let it get to fax after 4 bells.
Personally, I have been contemplating the switch to eFax. Its cheap and accessible from anywhere in the world.
Good luck with the business!
It can be done with one, but is pretty awkward. Figure on two lines.
I had used a fax machine for some years and it’s so uncomfortable. Then I have tried PopFax.com internet fax service and it’s so reliable. It lets me to save money on fax machine, potential repairs, and it is environmentally friendly, because it doesn’t require consume of paper and toner. Also I can receive and send faxes (http://en.popfax.com/Send%20fax%20subs.html) while traveling, as long as I can get an internet connection.

What’s the easiest way to receive a fax if you don’t have a fax machine?

Question: What’s the easiest way to receive a fax if you don’t have a fax machine?
I’ve heard of fax to email but can a fax machine send to an email, how does that work?
This depends on the Fax Machine.. In today’s world most Fax machines are tied in with the copier/scanner. At my office I have a copy machine that will send email from fax, but keep in mind this is a commercial machine. At my house with my “all in one” I have to scan it and then send has a email from my computer.
email is easy way to receive if you don’t have fax machine.
The “fax to email” part is an internet fax service. You can’t really send a fax directly to any person’s email address…
When you sign up to an internet fax provider, you are given real fax number. You can give this number to your clients / friends etc and they can send you a fax from a fax machine to this number. The difference is that instead of it ringing in your house and an old fax machine answering the fax, the incoming fax is received and emailed to you as a PDF attachment.
Likewise, if you want to send an email to a fax machine, you would send the file you want to email to a specific email address that includes the destination fax number (varies with your provider, ex 4092314880@somefaxcompany.com). The attachment is then read and faxed out to the recipient’s fax machine.
I hope that makes sense — take a look at http://www.ebiztoolkit.com/internet-fax.html for more info on internet fax services if you need a little more of an explanation.
the fax to email is a service that you get from a company… you are provided with an actual fax number, that when someone faxes you it gets forwarded to your email address as an attachment, usually a PDF file… that you can then print out…
for outgoing faxes, you would scan a document in PDF, or other compatible format with your e-fax provider, then sent it as an attachment in an email to a special formatted email address…
at my company, to send an e-fax to 212-555-1212 we would just email a PDF file as an attachment to 2125551212@fax.send2fax.com then it would be sent to the fax machine as a regular fax…
but the easiest way… the way that i do things, because the volume of faxes that i deal with, i just go to staples, and pay the or so to send or receive faxes…

Why do callers receive a faxing noise when calling my home phone, when we don’t own a fax machine?

Fax Service: Why do callers receive a faxing noise when calling my home phone, when we don’t own a fax machine?
Maybe once a week or so, friends and family calling our house phone receive a fax noise. My husband & I have heard it ourselves when calling the house. We don’t even own a fax machine! There are also times that we hear our voices echo back when on a call, and clicking sounds. All the phones in the house a cordless and are pretty much the best you can buy, not cheap phones, (I don’t thnk that has much to do w/ anything anyway). It seems nobody knows what this could be, not even the phone company. The phone company said that IT IS NOT somebody trying to fax us simutaneously as the person that is calling us.So, we would like to know if there are any other reasons for this to happen? Is our phone being tapped, and our conversations being recorded for some odd reason? Please, somebody tell us what’s going on?
RE: Awesome…..If you read my question, you would have noticed that I did in fact call the phone company (AT&T) and they could not give me an answer. So you’re the Tard Monkey, little boy.Everyone else, thank you for your time and giving me your respectful feedback.By the way, I do not have dial-up, but I do have a network of computers, so that very well might be the problem.Thank you.
your phone line is crossed with someone elses . Call ATT for repair.
Dont you think that your phone provider would be better suited to answer this question tard monkey?
if you have dial up and you only have one line it will do that when people call
Your lines are crossed up. Contact your telephone service provider to have this fixed.
Do you have a PC or laptop connected to the land line?… some modems/software interdict incoming calls as fax transmissions. Try calling with the computer connected and any fax software running and then try without. Hope that it works for you. Best regards.

Do you need a special number for a fax machine?
Posted by in Fax Free on January 22, 2012
My Question: Do you need a special number for a fax machine?
Like can i just get the basic of basic like $ 15 phone line for it? or does it have to be one of the more expensive ones? my boyfriend is wanting to get a seperate line for his fax machine, and if possible id like to just get a really cheap line for it. i’m not sure if faxing to other area codes would be a problem if you just have the local cheap line. please help!! i need to know before friday!!
Okay do i need a line that can make long distance calls if there will be faxes sent to long distance numbers? or can it be the cheap line that just makes local calls?
A separate number is not necessary. I’ve got a fax machine at home and just use it on my home number. The machine can be turned off or programmed to your specific needs. Due to bill collectors and telemarketers, I leave my machine turned on all the time. After 4 rings, the caller will hear that awful fax noise.
Edit:
If you’re going to send faxes to long distance numbers, you’ll need a line that’s capable of making long distance calls.

FAQ: How to send a fax to a fax machine using Word 2007?
Posted by in Fax Software on January 22, 2012

Q&A: How to send a fax to a fax machine using Word 2007?
When I am sending a word document by fax everything goes on fine but at the end I am getting a message “No dial tone was detected. The phone line is either busy or not connected to the computer.” Does that mean that I cannot send a fax message to a fax machine?
Typically “no dial tone detected” means that there is no phone line connected to the modem in your computer (since you get this particular message, I’m going on the assumption that you have fax software installed on your PC that uses the PC’s fax/modem to send faxes). If that assumption is correct, then make sure the phone line is connected to the modem.
PS – If this is something you do more than a few times a month, I recommend you look at an online efax service. I was using a fax modem in my PC until about two years ago. Long story short, I tried a few services and settled on FaxLogic’s “Personal Fax Machine” service. It does not require a phone line or a modem, works 24/7 without my computer being on or plugged into the line, and lets me fax to/from my PC (laptop, actually) and to/from my standard Brother all-in-one (for faxing paper documents). At /month, it’s a bargain.
PPS – The Microsoft link I sent you talks about Windows Fax and Scan for Windows 7 (older versions of Windows have this feature, too, but Google to find the specific documentation). This option, which may be what you already have, may be a fine solution if you have infrequent faxing needs and you have a phone line available to you.
Hi,
Yes, you cannot do that because it seems that there is no modem connected to the PC.
I would suggest you to switch to an internet fax service provider which is much easier to use, no modem, no phone line…all you need is a PC and internet connection.
They usually provide a print-to-fax software that allows user to print their document DOC, XLS, image, PDF, Open Office, etc to any fax machine.
For that you will need a subscription for these service.

Q&A: had a seperate phone line installed for my fax machine but when machine turned on phone won’t work?

My Question: had a seperate phone line installed for my fax machine but when machine turned on phone won’t work?
I take it you have dsl guessing of course if you do then your phone needs a dsl filter on it. Or is that second phone line a SECOND PHONE LINE? is it hooked to the fax line somewhere and they said ok it is fixed and ripped you? you can check that out put a phone on both lines then try to call the other line see if it rings or busy
if it does then hmm replace the dsl filter that is cheap! if thatis used then it could be a loose phone service? from the pole to the house that might run you upto to get checked but when the phone wire runs in your house you check it!ifit looks ok then unplug everything else but phones and fax and have someone fax and phone you on the other line see if it works if it does start plugging things in one by one until it stops working then you will find the bugger. if it is down to the phones and the fax try a phone to phone first then phone to fax it might be the Fax
What do you think? Answer below please!
