Looking for something around $ 10/month. Just to have for the few faxes per month we need to send. Our cell phones are our primary phones.

No need for land lines for personal and business calls, I use cell phone for incoming and outgoing calls.
not going to get a land line for free… cheaper is going to be the metered or message rate service, where you pay per minute for all calls… should be around per month plus any usage, taxes and fees…
i would consider looking into an efax provider if i was you – your incoming faxes will be sent to your email as a PDF file (usually) and you can scan then email your outgoing faxes – and they will be sent to the fax machine of who ever you are faxing..

I also found 2 phone numbers on an online people search for his fathers name in the state he lives in (Indiana) but every time I call the numbers it gives me a busy signal. What does this mean. He can’t always be on the internet with it. Is it a fax number or something?

I have a strange problem that started recently on my computer win Windows XP recently upgrade to SP 3.5, although the error occurred before the update too. I get the error from both Mozilla Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 6 and then 8 also that my print spooler is not working and asks me to add a printer. The print to PDF or regular old HP PSC 1315c don’t show up when trying to print from a browser.
The strange part is that I can print from Notepad and from Adobe. I can’t print a PDF opened through a browser only when opened directly with Adobe. The printers all show up in the /Control Panel/Printers and Faxes folder. I also can’t print a test page from the printer properties.
I have gone into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and stopped and restarted the print spooler several times while also shutting off the printer and it is running when I start up the computer. I also checked on the spooler properties to make sure they were good. I have also gone to /Windows/system32/spool/printer/ and deleted all files. I also have Comodo Firewall and AVG Anti-Virus Free running and the latter haven’t found anything.
So basically I’m stumped because the print spooler isn’t recognized from any internet browser. Can anyone help me please?
Which printer driver? They both are not working. I can’t print to PDF or print to the HP inkjet and my understanding is that they each have a different driver. They were working as recently as a couple of weeks ago.

If you see some system messages like “Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem…” or “Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running” it’s the bifg probability that your spooler is broken. Print spooler may be broken due to 3 most popular reasons:
1. Printer drivers incompatibility
It happenes when you begin installing new printer drivers over uninstalled old ones.
2. Accident spooler service crash
3. You have malware onto your computer

I am working on a project with another person I have never met through the internet. I am providing them with recorded music that I will create. They have assured me that the songs I am recording are in the public domain but I want to be sure that if any copyright issues do develop, they will be solely responsible for dealing with them and I am not liable. They have agreed to sign off on this but my question is how do I create such a document?
Is a type word document that I send them and have them type their name on work as an electronic signature?
Should I have them print it, sign it, and either fax, mail, or scan and send it to me?
Any advice? (Especially from lawyers?)

Legally it’s difficult to prove they signed the document because all they’re required to say is that it weren’t them and someone forged a signature. If you must do it over a long distance you should get someone you trust at least to be present and sign the document as a witness.

You have raised a good question, and I’m glad you inquired before taking such a step. There is legislation in place that recognizes an electronic signature to be equivalent to that of a hand written signature; two important pieces of legislation to focus on are UETA and ESIGN. UETA is a state by state law, where ESIGN is the Federal law. The intent of the acts state that a contract or document “may not be denied legal effect, validity, or enforceability solely because it is in electronic form” and the definition of an electronic signature is “an electronic sound, symbol, or process attached to or logically associated with a record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record”.
This being said, there are best practices to be considered before trying to have documents signed electronically, and many variables that would help in establishing the legal validity and integrity of the document. There are well established companies out there that provide electronic signature solutions that can help you to execute this agreement electronically, while maintaining the legal admissibility and enforceability of the document. If this is a one time event, it may be best to go through the email, sign, scan, fax process; however tedious it may be. If you believe you will have more of a regular or consistent need to have documents signed, then it could be valuable for you to look into the e-signing process.

Businesses like them have popped up as the economy deteriorated and importers were desperate to unload inventory they could not find buyers for at higher prices. The only question is the quality of the merchandise, as there have been a lot of reports of Chinese counterfeiting.
You say products come with a manufacturer’s warranty. That just means the website selling the product does not provide any warranty at all, they don’t have to. Counterfeiters lie about providing manufacturer’s warranty, after all, they already lied when they made and sold the product in the first place.

your fax and copy does not need Internet, really
if you have dsl, just use the wireless
if it is dial up, you maybe looking for a splitter
there are taps that let you plug in 5 phone cords to one line [we do] and they work fine

An Ethernet Switch allows you to connect multiple TCP/IP devices together.
A Router connects different networks together (ie, your home network and the Internet). All home routers include an Ethernet Switch as part of the unit.

It sounds about right if you don’t buy it on sale. The 4 gigs of ram and the 200 gig 7200 rpm HD probably bump you about 0 worth of upgrades (the upgraded CPU doesn’t help either). I would seriously evaluate if you need all of that.

i am taking the chance that it will arrive while i am gone and i hope to have it faxed to me while i am there. if my plan fails, and they stop me at the border, are they going to hold me there or will i at least be able to get a hotel room til i can get my b.c., or do you think if i bring lots of info, like tax stuff and etc. would that help me to cross..any ideas or help…i leave in 2 days…i would appreciate any input
does any one know the quickest way to obtain the birth certificate then…i live in N.Y. and was born in Colorado Springs, I am really not trying to do anything wrong, time is just not on my side. I do have someone who could bring the birth certificate to me in canada

they will not take birth certificates anymore u have to have a passport now they will detain u at the border i know my son got trapped there back in october

we used to go back and forth on only drivers license but sometimes we would get pulled aside and they go thru our cars that goes for both sides. generally it wasn’t too big of a hassle but it seems to be getting tougher every day

You do NOT need a passport to cross the Canadian border by LAND. BUT…a faxed copy of a birth certificate will NOT be aceptable. You must have the actual certified copy.

Emergency or not, you have to follow the laws of the land. For driving, you need 2 pieces of ID, proof of citizenship and government issued photo ID. A fax of your birth certificate isnt going to work. Actual birth certificate have many fraud prevention measures built into them so border guards know to spot fakes. A fax can be altered. (easily altered I might add)
The border guards will feel for your situation…but if they let one person go they have to bend the rules for everyone. That defeats the whole purpose of it all.

Hope that helps you. I’d recommend getting it before your cross over. Most people I know that have come from USA to Canada at the local border crossing have been asked for it by the guards on both sides. (from the Travel state website “ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizens traveling to Canada are required to show U.S. Government-issued photo ID and proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a birth certificate.\”)
