My new 5.8ghz cordless phone wont ring if another phone or my fax machine is plugged into another jack – help!

fax machine

Ask by G: My new 5.8ghz cordless phone wont ring if another phone or my fax machine is plugged into another jack – help!
It’s a Panasonic KX-TG5634 expandable 5.8ghz phone system.

If I unplug everything else from my phone jacks, the phone operates normally. If I plug just one wall phone, fax machine into another jack – the phone will not acknowledge an incoming call.

You can pick up the phone – hit talk – and it’ll work… but it won’t ring or register the call on it’s caller ID.

This is really annoying. Anyone have any suggestions?

The other pieces of equipment are stealing the signal that you have an incoming call.

Call Panasonic Customer Support and see what they can do for you. The number is on their website.

Adding additional phones to a line adds up to the REN on the line. Each phone has a Ringer equivelency number. One of your phones must have a high drain on the line. Try one at a time, and see which one is the culprit. I run three on one line, no problem. You also will have this problem if you live a long distance from your local telephone company central office!! (You can also disconnect the ringer on one of those other phones, lowering the load, and see if the others ring.!!)

If you plugged a dolphin into a fax machine, would you be able to see what they are saying?

Yes, of course.
You just plug the fax machine into the blow-hole (careful not to get it wet) and you should get a print-out straight away of the dolphin’s thoughts.
This does not work on dead dolphins however.

Answer by tom
A serious answer for what may not be a serious question. But no.

Firstly, connecting a fax machine to a dolphin would be extremely difficult. It would involve a nerve grafting process which is still very new technology, and would involve surgery on the dolphin.

Secondly, a fax machine is designed to convert information passing down a phone line into a print out. It can do this because it understands what the information means. Perhaps 0001110 means “Print a black pixel at point (1,2)” or something like that. However a dolphins signals are going to be completely different to what a fax machine is normally used to, and it simply wont be calibrated correctly to make a sensible print out. Even if you could get it to print something, chances are it would be random dots.

While plugging a fax machine directly into a dolphin is whimsical at best, a related idea is quite possible.
You can attach a microphone to a dolphin and record the noises it makes. This sound data could be fed into a computer to be analysed, and could be printed out in real time on a properly modified fax machine. It would be most useful, I suspect, to view the data in terms of the frequency spectrum, like you see on Winamp, or the bars-and-lines type visualisations on windows media player. From this you could see whether patterns are repeated, and perhaps even learn a little of the language.

how do I hook up my 3050 so I can fax when I have Qwest DSL line directly plugged into the wall jack?

fax computer

By PJ: how do I hook up my 3050 so I can fax when I have Qwest DSL line directly plugged into the wall jack?
Moved my computer – everything worked great until I unplugged everything and mixed up the wires. To get the DSL to work Qwest said to plug it directly into the wall jack. This means I can’t fax using my HP Laserjet 3050 which is supposed to be plugged into the wall jack. the 3050 prints just fine but it wan’t fax.

Answer:

Answer by Vulcan_guy
Use a 2-way splitter- they usually come with your DSL modem.

The jack used by your HP 3050 should be filtered, the jack your modem plugs into should NOT be filtered so the DSL signal comes through.

FAQ: why is my phone line busy when fax machine is plugged into line? – Fax Machine

Ask by Lisa O: why is my phone line busy when fax machine is plugged into line?

Answer:

Answer by think_tank
The fax machine may have been damaged. Check if you can get a dial tone from the fax machine and check if it can cut the line if you hang it up.

Question by Gerard Way is the Boss: i have a panasonic fax machine and i bought it about 4 years ago at costco and i brought it home and plugged?

I was like wow it worked! so i set it up where i wanted it to be and it was great no problems until about 2 weeks we had a problem with our garadge door and my dad not knowing turned all the power off in the whole house just for a second and everthing worked fine so i thought! I looked at the fax machine and it wasnt working again! no one touched it. it just bombed out after the power was shut off. I even tried another power cable from something i know works and it still didnt work and i know the outlet works cause i tried pluggingin something and it worked. so any one have any ideas on whats going on!

computer won’t recognize that a printer is plugged in?

fax software

Ask by jflsdkjflsad: computer won’t recognize that a printer is plugged in?
I bought a new printer. When I plug it in to any of my several USB ports, nothing happens. But when I connect it to another computer, the “found new hardware” thing pops up. What is the problem. BTW my mouse is connected through USB and that works.
18 minutes ago – 3 days left to answer.

I have already installed the printers software/drivers etc. It is just that the computer does not know the printer is connected.

I have also unplugged all the cables and plugged it back in several times.

It is not in printers and Faxes. Also even before I installed the software, I plugged in the printer into a USB slot and nothing happpened. I did the same in another computer and right away the “found new hardware” message popped up.
I do have USB 2, my computer is pretty new

mabye your usb is only usb 1 and you need 2 or you are not running the right os on the computer

Answer by rott1711
Try unplugging the printer, uninstalling the software, shut down. Restart, reinstall the software, shut down. Restart then plug the printer back in. :)

Answer by Connor R
Try to reinstall the driver. If you do not have the driver installed, you can get it by going to the printer’s company website to find it.

If you do, try reinstalling it. If that doesn’t work, you probably have usb 1.0 instead of 2.0. If it is a desktop computer your having problems with, you can buy an expansion card that has usb 2.0. If you have a laptop computer, you might want to consider buying a new own.

Answer by robertsimon888
Had a problem like that once myself. Uninstalled the printer software and reboot. Then go into control panel and system and device manager and go to USB stuff and delete it. Reboot the computer and the system will detect and reinstall the USB drivers and hopefully the printer will start responding.

Answer by combatvicjason
sometimes you have to install software first then plug in printer when asked./ Just one suggestion!

Why does the fax machine not work when plugged into DSL filter? – Fax Machine

Ask by gamegirl: Why does the fax machine not work when plugged into DSL filter?
I am trying to help a friend with her fax machine. She has DSL and there is a DSL filter plugged into the phone jack with one of the cables hooked up to the DSL modem and the other going to her Dell Photo 964 printer/fax/scanner. The problem is that she cannot receve faxes or send them. Any opinions or input regarding this issue is greatly appreciated.

Selected answer:

Answer by Jared
You don’t need to use a DSL Filter on a fax machine.

Answer by vancup2003
Fax machine requires input from regular phone line, no filtered one. Take off filter, or chance jack or change location of fax. have a good day

Answer by dallygirl89
I have a friend with the same problem-the fax doesn’t recognize the dsl. Try the Dell support people. www.dell.com.
Here’s one answer from their forums:”If you are on DSL, you connect the DSL modem direct to the telephone line, but you will need to connect an “analog voice” line, through a filter to the modem (just like you connect your voice telephones through a filter to the telco wall jack).

Connect the analog (voice) telephone line to the “line” jack on the modem. The other jack will have a small telephone icon and that is to connect a voice telephone.”

Answer by John H
The Fax DOES need to be hooked to your phone line with a DSL filter!

Is the fax/all-in-one getting a dialtone? Should be easy to tell with a regular telephone. If not, you wired it wrong.

Can I still receive faxes if my fax machine is only plugged into the computer? – Fax Machine

fax machine

By Chelsea: Can I still receive faxes if my fax machine is only plugged into the computer?
If I plug in the OfficeJet T45xi fax machine to the wall jack and the computer I receive an alert that the “phone is off the hook.” If I unplug the fax machine from the wall jack and leave it solely in the computer will I still be able to send and receive faxes? This is the fax machine at work, I already downloaded all the software, and it NEEDS to be connected to the computer for our use.
