Do potential employers check you out before they call for an interview?

Ask by sjrosario82: Do potential employers check you out before they call for an interview?
i’ve been faxing, emailing for jobs for weeks now, my resume was checked already, i’m going to school for AA degree, bur no one is calling me up. I don’t know what’s the problem. I’m on leave right now due to pregnancy, and i need to get hired by May 1st because I do not want to do childcare/babysitting anymore for preschool. Do they check your background before they call you?

Answer by Cindy16
Sometimes.
They sometimes check after the interview also. It is hard to say.

Answer by Gourmet Flossie
usually they will do the check after the interview or second interview if it went well.
Perhaps get a friend to read over one of your cover / application letters and offer some constructive criticism ??

Answer by Andy G
If your resume was checked, then it is likely that some managers did go through a more detailed screening process. It i not unusual for hiring staff to check social networking websites (Facebook, MySpace) to determine someone’s character.

In some cases, someone in the business knows someone from your previous job and could give an informal reference.

Also, many jobs are going up in smoke because many business are suffering from the recession. Perhaps you are sending a resume that is not appealing to employers

Keep in mind that you are not the only person applying for these positions and it could be that there are more experienced candidates seeking the positions that you applied for.

Answer by RoseyRoe
probably not. usually after the 1st interview if you are under consideration.

If you attended/graduated from college, check with their career center – they are great resources and can be tremendously helpful.

Here are a few samples (from my alma mater’s site) to get you started below. Be succinct and direct, and triple check for any spelling, grammatical, or punctuation errors! Try to keep it under one page if you don’t have much experience, and no more than 2 pages no matter what.

ALWAYS USE A COVER LETTER!

Good luck!

Save your resume as a word document. Compose an email and click attach files, browse then open. This will attach your resume to your email.

Besides setting all margins to 1″, the most important criteria for setting up a professional resume besides relevant text, is “scanability.” Here are some helpful tips:

1. Place just below your identification header [your hame, address, phone, email address] any Conditional Warning Statement such as “Confidential Resume,”Do Not Contact Current Employer,” etc.
2. Always fill-in an Objectives category [just below the Conditional Warning Statement] and make sure that he Objective will contribute to the profitability of your future employer;
3. Select a mono-type font such as Helvetica, Arial, Courier or Times Roman; do not select any cursive handwriting styles which cannot scanned;
4. Keep font sizes within a range of 10 to 12 pts.;
5. Avoid styling text with a justified alignment, keep it flushed left;
6. Instead of using tabs to set up blocked text entries, generate a table and use the column and row settings accordingly;
7. Do not place an i.d. picture anywhere on the resume, this is a major taboo due to discrimination issues;
8. Do not place any graphic text [saved as .gifs] onto the resume since it may be overlooked during the scanning phase;
9. List at the very end of the resume your interests which should include travel experiences, language skills, social interactions such as golf, team sports, tennis, etc.

In conclusion, the above helpful hints were designed to allow ease of scanning of your resume into PDF which can then be text captured for seach purposes by your potential employer. If the original resume was created in Word, WordPerfect or Mac Appleworks, it can be Saved As a PDF file which then can be saved as an email attachment. Otherwise, you can simply use a scanner and scan a hard copy of the resume and then save as a PDF file.

Failure to conform the resume to appropriate fonts and styles as outlined above will result in rejection of the resume simply due to the inability of the scanning device to properly index relevant resume entries.

Good luck!

You can use Yahoo Local http://local.yahoo.com to look for local companies and businesses. With Yahoo Local, you can obtain the company’s phone number, website URL and business address. As for the email and fax, you might be able to get that information on the company’s website.

Answer by Nassorn
That’s interesting job. Let see I can light up some ideas for you.

To find your potential customers online, the first thing you need to do is what we called a ‘keyword research.’ At this stage I assume that you know what your potential customers are looking for.

At the beginning of search, the keyword is the seed word that they enter into the search engines. In your case, the keywords can be 3 words;

north american market

This video may give you better idea on how keywords help ‘the information provider’ meets ‘the surfer’ – http://bit.ly/Vday2

I also found a Web site that may helps your company build your own permanent site that reduce the “Info-Gap” between surfers and businesses. This case probably be your long-term plan. You can find the whole information in the link below.

Hope this is a bit helps.

This is a total phishing scam, no respectable business would ask for your personal info in a emal. Wow they really want your identity bad. Never open these things, it just sends them a message that your account is active and then you get tons more. If you didn’t enter any contest on line or any where else, you are not a winner, but they will win. It’s a scam.

Answer by travelmaster
mostly likely its a scam
especually if you werrent not expecting anything

Answer by Lyn G
Yahoo does not have a lottery or reward contest.
It is a scam to get your personal information and/or money.
Do not respond to it.
Report it to yahoo, so they are aware.
Forward to spam@yahoo.com

Answer by brian2007
Scam!!!!! That message is both a fake and an outright fraud. Don’t contact the phishers and give them any of your personal information at all. Spam that scam message straight into oblivion right away. This is one lottery you’ll never win because it’s “bogus.”

Another thing, the phishers telling you to “keep this lottery information confidential” would indicate to you not to say anything about this to anybody until they have finished scamming you.

And there is a question here? I hope this isn’t some form of ad as that is against the rules.

I’ve been sending FAXes for years from the Mac PowerBook G4 in my truck without a phone line using eFax and my wireless modem. (both cross platform technologies.) I also receive FAXes via my email through the same service.

Nothing new here. Mac computers have had built in modem software since at least OS 6 using dial up modems to connect to the phone lines. (I remember sending FAXes from my Mac Plus via a Global Village 14,400 modem.)

Answer by Matt Gerchow
Magic Joke is more like it.

Everything sounds great with that product until you actually own one. I set it up with great vigor here in Colombia and could not even get a phone call to go through.

Plus you have to have this big dorky box sticking out of your computer.

Skype kicks their but all up and down the block if you have ever used one.

For per month you get a U.S. based phone number that is crystal clear in any country. One word of advice. Keep the app on top when talking and get at least 2gb of ram for your machine.

To the other comment about efax. Yep, you are correct. You can send from your truck, your house or anywhere else you can get a signal.

Since you mention your truck I’m assuming you are in the service world and have a small scanner.

Most printer companies like HP are now focusing on 3-in-1′s instead of 4-in-1′s …leaving off the fax portion. My gut tells me this is because of all the cheap fax lines.

I have been using ring central and like the service so far. They are a big company and have problems like any big corp but at least I’m confident they are not going anywhere fast.

Here is a site where they compare the online fax companies in a quick comparison grid
