Q&A: What is good all-in-one: copy, scan, print, fax?
For home use, not commercial use.
We are not tech savvy, and don’t need a lot of bells and buzzers on the all-in-one. Simple to use, simple to set up, etc. Must have fax in addition to copy, scan, print.
It must be easy to align. I have an HP printer, scanner, copy machine and all I have to do is print out the alignment page, scan it into the printer and it is set. I had Lexmark before and hated it. You print out the alignment page, and have to look at lines of grey and/or black and adjust each one. It was hard to see which line was most clear and if it needed adjusted to lighter or darker. So, please suggested a machine that is like the HP for alignment.
Price wise, can go into low $ 100 (like $ 129), but not over that for cost. Free shipping would help too.
I have looked at some on line, and so many of them have low customer reviews, due to machine jamming very easy. That is why I have not been able to find any that sound good.
Epson wins for best price/feature comparison, best warranty and lowest cost of ink. They have a new deal every day. For the past few days, refurbished printers with full one-year warranty were available from to with free shipping! You can’t beat their warranty. If anything goes wrong, they will fedex a replacement and pick up the old one at their expense. You can get ink for under 50 cents a cartridge. You pay under 2.50 for reusable cartridges and then get back for the empties. Or you can buy refillables (which is what Im using now) and refill yourself for pennies. You might also want to sign up for epson’s deal of the day. Until the holidays they will be featuring a deal every day. Thursday it was the Workforce 323 for with free shipping. friday it was the 325 for with free shipping, which I bought.
I have a number of epson printers and have never had to align them.

Two things to check for:
1) Make sure you’re not printing to the fax option part for your printer, but to the printer itself. Check your default printer selection.
2) Check to make sure your required fax setup settings in the printer are set and configured (fax phone number & other options are sometimes required to be set before the device is properly enabled for use).

I have a strange problem that started recently on my computer win Windows XP recently upgrade to SP 3.5, although the error occurred before the update too. I get the error from both Mozilla Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 6 and then 8 also that my print spooler is not working and asks me to add a printer. The print to PDF or regular old HP PSC 1315c don’t show up when trying to print from a browser.
The strange part is that I can print from Notepad and from Adobe. I can’t print a PDF opened through a browser only when opened directly with Adobe. The printers all show up in the /Control Panel/Printers and Faxes folder. I also can’t print a test page from the printer properties.
I have gone into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and stopped and restarted the print spooler several times while also shutting off the printer and it is running when I start up the computer. I also checked on the spooler properties to make sure they were good. I have also gone to /Windows/system32/spool/printer/ and deleted all files. I also have Comodo Firewall and AVG Anti-Virus Free running and the latter haven’t found anything.
So basically I’m stumped because the print spooler isn’t recognized from any internet browser. Can anyone help me please?
Which printer driver? They both are not working. I can’t print to PDF or print to the HP inkjet and my understanding is that they each have a different driver. They were working as recently as a couple of weeks ago.

Hi,
If you see some system messages like “Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem…” or “Operation could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running” it’s the bifg probability that your spooler is broken. Print spooler may be broken due to 3 most popular reasons:
1. Printer drivers incompatibility
It happenes when you begin installing new printer drivers over uninstalled old ones.
2. Accident spooler service crash
3. You have malware onto your computer

i have an essay due soon that i just finished typing on microsoft word 2007 and i hit the office button at the top left. I highlight “Send” and it gives me 2 options : email and internet fax. fax is not available on my computer, and the email button is faded so i cant click on it. i ran out of ink on my printer and i dont have the right size ink holder thingy for my printer. i have to send it to my family computer and i cant. please help!

Can’t you copy and paste it and e-mail it to yourself?

Unless you have Microsoft Outlook installed, I don’t think you can do a Send, however, you can still attach the .doc or .docx file to an email in your email program.
The instructions for that, unfortunately, depend on your email program.

I was typing a document for a fax & on the internet when this hapened.all the other letters were right. I went into my computer settings & messed with them for a while,anyway the L came back right. I don’t know what I did, if I did anything.

I don’t need the website to Microsoft but something more specific on how to remove this wizard. I know it has something to do with the registry so if anybody can give me a website staight to the fix that would be great. I print faxes everyday and I want to know a way to turn this off so I dont have to go through the five or six steps to get something printed because it is a waste of time and I print these about 20 times a day.

i have a combo HP printer/fax/copy machine hooked up to my computer. i want to save paper and ink. I get a lot of garbage faxes from sales people.i want to be able to just print out my important faxes and trash the rest.

IF you use a fax program ON your computer, the answer is yes.
From a fax machine, I doubt it. See your instruction manual.

Just created my free local listings website. 2 questions:
1. how to print my web page without truncating text on the right side of page?
2. At the start, it asks for your company name, phone and fax. This info appears on each of the 5 pages. The Contact Us page already has this info. So it appears twice on that page (once and once again underneath the first info).

To answer #1. Don’t click on the print icon to print. Instead click “File” >>> Page Setup >>Then set the orientation to Landscape. That will get the whole page.

Hello. I bought a Brother 2820 fax/printer 2 years ago and it hasn’t been used much. It was printing fine 2 weeks ago but now, the computer does not recognize it. I sometimes get a “problem with new hardware” message when I try to reconnect it.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the drivers, tried a different USB port and tried another cable. I even reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything again.
When I try to print, only the fax option appears.
I am using Windows XP Home.
Any help would be grealty appreciated!

this may not be the case for you but u can try changing the ink in the printer.
