Here are two tweaks that I see right off the bat. However, I’d keep tweaking.
Education
Name of High School, City it is located, Class year
List achievements, awards, special classes, anything you did special in high school
I’d change: Ability to type 50 WPM … I don’t like the phrase “ability to” it is not convincing and rather bland. Frankly, just because you have the ability to does not mean that it is something you can already do. Actually, you have the ability to type 80 WPM also!
Here’s a tip:
“Most resumes provide a list of duties that each applicant has been responsible for–without explaining the benefit of those skills to employers. For example, a secretary’s resume might state she can type 80 wpm and is extremely accurate. This statement lacks an explanation of how her typing speed and accuracy benefit an employer’s bottom line. The real benefit is that the employee can produce more work and ultimately save the employer money. A better statement for this person’s resume would be:
· Achieved top production volume by maintaining high degree of accuracy with typing speed at 80 wpm.”

I thought it was thorough. If you are submitting this through an online application, I’d say it’s pretty complete. Usually companies and businesses can filter out applications online based on a few buzz words. Hardworking, flexible, reliable, and productive are examples of buzz words.
I do not know if you already did this, but it might be a good idea to add a professional reference like a teacher or a past employer.

is it o.k. to post same resume for multiple job openings in same company? – Fax Online
Posted by in Fax Online on December 12, 2011

Q&A: is it o.k. to post same resume for multiple job openings in same company?
I am actively searching for a job and I need some clarification.
Lets say a company has 6 available openings that requires more or less same qualifications and same field of education/expertise.
1) Can I apply to all the 6 available openings using the same resume or should I tweak my resume in 6 different ways to suit the openings? If I tweak them in 6 different ways, wont the HR personnel be annoyed about this? or is it o.k. to file the same resume for all the 6 openings?
2) Is it o.k. to apply my resume online at company website, send fax and also send an email to HR ? Is this acceptable or should I send my resume through only one channel?
Please let me know your kind opinions.
If you apply for all six positions, it may look like you are desperate or don’t know what you want. Resumes should be tweaked for each position you are applying for according to the job requirements.
Once you apply online for a position, you don’t need to fax it. You will be overwhelming them with resumes. When you apply online, send a cover letter as well. You can call HR a few days later saying you are following up on the position you applied for.
When I get a person applying for 6 different positions, it does not sit well. Apply to the best position that fits you. Add a cover letter mentioning the other positions that you feel qualified to handle. That will go a lot further than ‘spamming’ the submission box.
The truth is that if the positions are similar, the same person is going to be recruiting for all of them and he/she will be able to tell that you could fit in any of them so you come off a lot less desperate.
As for where to apply, follow the instructions given on the ad you found. Anything that is machine readable (text or doc files) gets into the system much quicker.
Good luck.

Employment application vs. resume?
Posted by in Fax Online on November 22, 2011
Question: Employment application vs. resume?
I am applying for a job at a city office, they have a online application or I can fax my resume. Which is better? Or should I do both?
I just realized that I have to print the application off the website and fax it in, but there is also a link to e-mail a resume but not the application. Should I still fax them both?
Thank you everyone for all your great answers!!!!
Answer by amylynn2114
persoanlly, id do both.
Answer by cvcastrejon
Both.
That way they have all information in front of them. It will let them remember you more. On Fax write: In Addition to Online Application.

what is the best way to submit a resume to a company? – Fax Email
Posted by in Fax Email on October 27, 2011

Ask by natasha: what is the best way to submit a resume to a company?
*email -seems like evryone does that
*mail -takes a long time
*fax -it doesnt look as nice and you cant be creative with it
*in person -it seems like it would look like you took time to come in instead of just copying and pasting resumes to many companys on the web. this is the one i think might stand out better, and maybe since you are there they might like you and decide to talk to you.
what do you think?

in person-shows confidence and that u are persistent in wanting the job. thats how i did mine and got the job

There is a very high level of respect and attitude when delivering a resume formally, in person. It has to be done right and with the right charisma and swagger to be fully effective…
Unfortunately I have been forced to email and site-post my resume for many opportunities.
Use the resume as almost a first interview… get it to the person that needs it… make sure you look them in the eye, shake there hand, and let them know who you are. It is always better to be a face beside a name…
Answer by Aaron
There are lots of ways, as you mention in your question. The best way depends upon some circumstances you did not address:
- what level job is the resume writing about
- did the company specify a manner to place your resume
- do you have a contact name and method for getting to see them
- is the job open or are you submitting the resume in hope so creating a job opportunity

Answer by dirrrty76
it also depends on where would you like to work…I mean,if you’d like to work as a shop-assistant,for example, the best way is going there and give your resume in person. But if you’d like to work in a company far from you,in another city/state,the best way is definitely per email… It’s also a plus cause they see that you can use computer and are up-to-date. Good Luck! ![]()
P.S. Always remember than your resume itself counts more than the way you send/give it (be always accurate!)!
Answer by Me
In person, and it would be very good if someone inside the company recommends you.
Or by email if you have a recommendation.
If you dont have a recommendation, apply for a job they are advertising.

If the browse box they give you only accepts those extensions you’ll have to convert your resume to one of those formats.
It seems odd that they allow those types only though. If you have Office 2007 (or access to a computer with it) you can save stuff as XPS. If you need help doing that, check the link in the sources of this answer.

So far nothing except agencies. It’s been about a year.
Answer by casapulla2001
Not even once.
My thoughts here, are that HR people are lazy. No one explores these sites LOOKING through profiles.. when a friend or neighbor sends a resume (and all they need is a handful to say they’ve actually searched). In NYC, the jobs go to people that KNOW the HR people.. that means, predominantly where they live across NJ and LI. Sad, but true and always under board.
Answer by Jes
Yes, but only if your resume is written better than your questions on Yahoo Answers.
Answer by Deborah M
The most success I have had with this is on craigslist. In my case I think I need to rewrite my resume, that may be the case for you as well.
Answer by alchaley
Not usually but it doesnt hurt to keep trying. I would not make that my main focus if i were you. I would suggest the old fashioned way, pounding the pavement and word of mouth. It took me nearly a year to find something so good luck!

FAQ: What is the best method to send out your resume’?
Posted by in Fax Free on July 6, 2011

Ask by bihn85: What is the best method to send out your resume’?
I will soon have my Master’s Degree and I am in that dreadful stage of searching for employment. I spent a great deal of time and effort on my resume’ making sure that I emphasize my best qualities and skills. But now the question is when employers have three different ways in which they receive application packets: by mail, email, and fax…which do you think is the most professional? I know that email is fast, direct and “paper free” (THINK GREEN), fax is probably fastest because it can go directly to the hiring manager’s desk, but of course a resume’ on fine quality paper gets a great deal of respect…decisions. decisions.
Has anyone else put this much thought into the decision? What are your opinions? Please don’t ask me to ask the employers, I have and hence this is the reason why I know that they accept all three. I just want others opinions (especially if you have experience in HR in any form).
Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to share an opinion on this matter.

Answer by Precise Edit
Many of our clients ask this question, and our answer is simple. Call the hiring agent and ask what he or she prefers. This is not something you want to guess about. Some will prefer one type of delivery, and others may prefer something different. Call and ask. Then send in the method that each one prefers, i.e., don’t expect to use the same delivery method for all hiring managers. In the same way that you will have customized resumes and cover letters for each job, you may need a customized delivery method.
On the other hand, if you don’t want to call and ask, or if the HR manager refuses to specify a particular method, send your resume and cover letter as one PDF. In your e-mail body, state that you are also willing to send a hard copy if requested. Electronic submissions are becoming common because HR managers can simply file the submissions on their computers or share them easily with potential supervisors.
I don’t recommend faxed copies because you cannot control the print quality of the receiving fax machine.
Good luck on your job hunt.
