No. it’s an analog telephone line. It doesn’t have an IP address. Your printer itself, if connected via a network port to your network, will have an IP address, but the fax portion will not.

Are faxes sent by email (eFax, MyFax ) as secure as telephone faxes for sending charge card info etc?

By lhrf1: Are faxes sent by email (eFax, MyFax ) as secure as telephone faxes for sending charge card info etc?
my main concern is receiving charge card numbers from customers.

Selected answer:

Answer by notthateazy
Absolutely NOT!

E-mail is an unencrypted messaging service that relies on unknown public relay servers on the internet to get to it’s destination. Anyone who has access to these servers can access your e-mail (and any faxes it contains) and obtain the details from it. It is not secure at all and you would be negligent if you used e-mail in any way to transmit customers card numbers or any other private details.

Good Answer:

Answer by trbessie
Call it and see what happens.

Answer by pixieduzt07
call it and if it makes a weird noise its a fax machine

Answer by newmexicorealestateforms
If you ever want to find out information about a phone # type the area code and the number on google and it will tell you everything about that number. It even gives you a map locating the #. As a matter of fact type in your own # and watch what happens. You can send a form that google provides to get that information on your personal stuff off their search engine for safety reasons.

You will have to get your local phone company to install a jack for you.

Depending on you provider and lines run to your place, it may be a very simple addition for you as they usually can run a second line, using the existing lines that are already installed.

There are some wireless jack extenders that you can buy, but are not really recommended for fax, as the quality is not that great, and can be subject to interference which will result in poor or lost faxes, as well as a great deal of frustration.

You may also want to consider an Voip or broadband phone which seem to work extremely well. I have tried all options mentioned above with great success each time.

Good luck!

Answer by racegal23
radio shack sell as wireless jack to use in rooms with no jack. it’s kind of pricey (almost 100) but it will work, you wont have to pay the phone company to come out (they probably charge the same amount), you can take it with you when you move, and it’s a deductable business expense

Answer by ?
That’s an easy one. Check the link below. I believe radio shack carries a similar product.

How do I efax a documment to a telephone (fax) number?

By Rancher41: How do I efax a documment to a telephone (fax) number?

Good Answer:

Answer by Robert W
Assuming that you want to fax a document from your computer.

Your computer has to have a fax modem and it has to be connected to the phone line

You should have a fax set up wizard on your computer to get you started.

It’s really easier to have an all in one printer with a fax modem, then you print the document and fax it on the all in one.

Answer by Frank
Are you referring to using efax? If so, open an email client with the registered email address.
To: ph.no@efaxsend.com (ie: fax number = 4125551212, then address is 4125551212@efaxsend.com)
Attach compliant documents to the email, and send. The body of the message is the cover sheet.

If you are asking about an old fashion method, and your have a POTS line, then you will need to make sure that your PC will support faxing, and go from there. If you don’t have a POTS line, than you will not be able to send a fax unless you are using a fax – email service.

Answer by Curt Mcpark
This can be done with VOIP. But other methods will do too.

Answer by Mary
Before you can send a fax via the internet you need to consider some of the following factor:

1. Did you register for an online faxing service?
2. Do you have an internet connection?
3. Do you have an active webmail account?

i have a panasonic kx-f230 telephone fax machine?

Ask by Jerry B: i have a panasonic kx-f230 telephone fax machine?
i can not find out how or where in this fax machine where to put the ink is it posible that this fax machine has a ink roll that lasts for years g i dont know

Best answer:

Answer by Carl N
The “ink” is in the paper :-) It’s a thermal fax machine, so you get special fax rolls. The problem with thermal paper is that if you leave it in the light it will turn dark!

I’m guessing 20 years old for the machine. You can replace it with a newer, better machine for probably less than . One that uses either a black ink cartridge, liquid ink, or laser that uses plain paper would be far better.

How to maintain confidentiality by letter, email, by fax , during hand over, face to face and telephone?

fax how

Question by Keen Learner: How to maintain confidentiality by letter, email, by fax , during hand over, face to face and telephone?

Featured answer:

Answer by Matt Gerchow
I’m not exactly sure of the question but if you want to keep your faxes confidential then you will want to get yourself an online fax number.

Then you faxes will come directly to your email instead of being accessible by anyone in an office setting.

You can check out a list of fax companies and their prices on http://fax-number.net/
