Which scanner should I buy to email forms as well as to “go paperless” with only 20 pages a week? – Fax Software

fax software

By Jim: Which scanner should I buy to email forms as well as to “go paperless” with only 20 pages a week?
This is all new to me; although I’ve received emails with scanned documents for years, I’ve never bought or used a scanner. And now that I want to begin scanning and emailing documents instead of faxing, I want to get a machine that will also let me “go paperless” and not have to retain paperwork such as invoices, orders, bank statements, etc. Is Word the only software I need to accomplish this?

I use a X3550. Cheap and never lets me down. Buy FYI most scanners will let you do this. You scan the DOC and then attach it to an email so you relay don’t need anything fancy

By Jimmy Tu: can anybody help me with a fax question in regards to my internet as well?
hello, i recently just got a fax machine and i’ve always had at&t as my internet service provider which uses a phone line. i was wondering if there is any way i can still stay online and fax things at the same time instead of having to keep unplugging my phone line so that i can insert it into the fax machine every time i want to fax something. help please thank you in advance.

I keep spreading the gloom … Going to an internet phone usually breaks your physical fax.

However, faxing without a phone line is better than faxing with a phone line. It’s cheaper, faster, easier, more secure, and gosh darn it, fun (okay only the first couple times).

A month ago I would not have said that, but I’m a changed lass. I had the same sort of issue (cranky all-in-one with a single phone line) and when I started asking for solutions my uncle gave me a tip and sent me over to faqsaboutfax.com where I learned what the rest of the planet’s been using while I was in the stone ages. Now I’ve got internet fax service with MetroFax (http://www.metrohispeed.com/) setup so my fax # is forwarded to the toll free # they give me, and it’s emailing the faxes to me so I can get them on my phone and reply from the phone. Now my biggest problem is that people think I’m sort of obsessed with my business because I’m getting back to them right away no matter where I’m at. :p

Anyways, enough about my dilemmas, have a look at my sources, there’s a “free trial” link on that page that will give you the goods if you want to try before you buy.

Splitter is one option.Since you have an internet connection, why not try the online fax service. The software included in the service will allow you to send and receive fax online as an email attachment. Fax files are converted into PDF or TIFF formats. You can even customize your cover page and electronically include signature.

Answer by Jacqueline
You should have a splitter even without a fax machine. AT&T should have provided you with one.

Is there a fax software that lets you send and receive faxes manually as well as automatically? – Fax Software

fax software

Question by Idle_Idol: Is there a fax software that lets you send and receive faxes manually as well as automatically?
Windows XP SP2 has a fax package but it is ridiculously complicated and almost impossible to use since it cannot be configured to send faxes manually. I used to use a fax software that has both the manual and automatic features but I doubt it if it is compatible with Windows XP.

Most of the more modern fax packages on the market right now should be able to let you do this–tho you may have to alter the package’s defaults to get it to do so.

You’re right in as much as the inbuilt Winbloze package is a PITB to work with–but given that faxing is very much a dying industry right now (most folks concentrating on either email or IM/VOIP for their needs), I wouldn’t expect too much innovation to surface in this field. There’s less and less demand for it.
