THE BILL:

Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North… (Introduced in House)

HCON 40 IH

110th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. CON. RES. 40

Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North American Union with Mexico and Canada.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 22, 2007
Mr. GOODE (for himself, Mr. WAMP, Mr. JONES of North Carolina, Mr. PAUL, Mr. STEARNS, Mr. DUNCAN, and Ms. FOXX) submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and in addition to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

——————————————————————————–

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North American Union with Mexico and Canada.
Whereas the United States Departments of State, Commerce, and Homeland Security participated in the formation of the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) on March 23, 2005, representing a tri-lateral agreement between the United States, Canada, and Mexico designed, among other things, to facilitate common regulatory schemes between these countries;

Whereas reports issued by the SPP indicate that it has implemented regulatory changes among the three countries that circumvent United States trade, transportation, homeland security, and border security functions and that the SPP will continue to do so in the future;

Whereas the actions taken by the SPP to coordinate border security by eliminating obstacles to migration between Mexico and the United States actually makes the United States-Mexico border less secure because Mexico is the primary source country of illegal immigrants into the United States;
Whereas according to the Department of Commerce, United States trade deficits with Mexico and Canada have significantly increased since the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA);

Whereas the economic and physical security of the United States is impaired by the potential loss of control of its borders attendant to the full operation of NAFTA and the SPP;

Whereas the regulatory and border security changes implemented and proposed by the SPP violate and threaten United States sovereignty;

Whereas a NAFTA Superhighway System from the west coast of Mexico through the United States and into Canada has been suggested as part of a North American Union to facilitate trade between the SPP countries;

Whereas the State of Texas has already begun planning of the Trans-Texas Corridor, a major multi-modal transportation project beginning at the United States-Mexico border, which would serve as an initial section of a NAFTA Superhighway System;
Whereas it could be particularly difficult for Americans to collect insurance from Mexican companies which employ Mexican drivers involved in accidents in the United States, which would likely increase the insurance rates for American drivers;

Whereas future unrestricted foreign trucking into the United States can pose a safety hazard due to inadequate maintenance and inspection, and can act collaterally as a conduit for the entry into the United States of illegal drugs, illegal human smuggling, and terrorist activities; and

Whereas a NAFTA Superhighway System would likely include funds from foreign consortiums and be controlled by foreign management, which threatens the sovereignty of the United States: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That–

(1) the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System;

(2) the United States should not allow the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) to implement further regulations that would create a North American Union with Mexico and Canada; and

(3) the President of the United States should indicate strong opposition to these acts or any other proposals that threaten the sovereignty of the United States.

The best way to curtail the stream of Mexicans looking for work in this country is to raise the standard of living in Mexico so they don’t have to move. I don’t much care how it happens as long as it happens. Higher fences, more border patrols, whatever are not going to do it if they can’t make a decent living in their own country.

So, you have any ideas how to accomplish that?

thank you for the info. yes we need to stop the super highway
and the American union, and yes i will call

Answer by magime
I just phoned and got a US Senators office and his mailbox is full?
I suppose I will call back because I definately want those borders closed. Immigration status is poor and we need to regroup our efforts in cleaning house in those jobs in immigration departments I think alot of those people need to be let go , or as Trump says your’e Fired! Last but not least I would like to know who in the world would invite everyone into their own homes without knowing them? But now it looks like we are closing the barn door after the cows are gone.

Ever heard of the Pan-American Highway? It goes from Alaska to Southern Chile. I’m afraid you’re too late, my friend. It was built in the 1960′s, I think.

I understand your concerns. What I am afraid most people do not realize is that the presence of Millions and Millions of illegals is OUR own FAULT!

WE are LETTING OUR EMPLOYERS break OUR laws and using UNDOCUMENTED workers!

WE are allowing people illegally here in this country to have babies and rewarding this illicit activity with US citizenship for children dropped out of people ILLEGALLY HERE!!!!

WE can take control and Amend the constitution to allow citizenship to only legal and justifiable presence candidates!

WE can bust employers and make them scared to even think about saving a few dollars when they could lose hundreds!

That is really all we need to do! Stop blaming the Hispanics for OUR OWN STUPIDITY!

PS-we also need to adjust our immigration policy away from granting priority to “Family Reunification”. The millions that were last granted Amnesty should not now have any special treatment to pull all of their relatives in first! That makes 5 Million, 20 Million and the extra 15 million are dead weight that were not here working!

Is there a legit world wide accepted online education solution?

Ask by papajo: Is there a legit world wide accepted online education solution?
Is there any REAL university that can provide legit diplomas of any kind and level (graduate, masters etc) which are recognized world wide and are equal to the “normal” ones?

For e.g. if let’s say that Oxford university has a economics pre graduate program and gives to the students after 4 years a graduate diploma in economics, is there any online way to participate totally using the internet fax post etc and have an equal diploma? (I am not talking about the prestige; equality refers to the actual meaning of the diploma)

Provide please links phone numbers etc or even describe me what is needed to enroll to such a program.

I thank you in advance.

P.S if the solution isnt world wide recognizable I am interested in USA, Europe or USA and Europe.

A lot of state universities actual do that. For example, here’s some on the one I go to, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities: http://digitalcampus.umn.edu/programs/index.html

There are 5 programs that you can get a bachelor’s degree in entirely online. I remember the University of Washington also did that. A guy I knew was doing econ entirely online, I think.

You mean like the master’s degree that Oxford offers online in Human Rights Law? http://humanrightslaw.conted.ox.ac.uk/MStIHRL/

There are 1000′s of very well respected universities that are offering programs wholly or mostly online these days. There are also a bunch of less respected and/or completely fake universities doing the same.

There is no diploma from any school that is universally recognized by all countries for all purposes worldwide. The reason is that the education systems differ significantly. Some, such as those from the likes of Harvard, Yale, Oxford, Cambridge, etc… have easier and more uniform recognition though.

“equal” – no. There can be no equality because there is an inherent difference in the two. There’s a further perceptual difference between the two. Ask yourself whether you even consider it possible that such an equality exists – I suspect that if you did truly believe that then you’d not have asked the question here. That said, the referenced MSt in Human Rights Law from Oxford is a very highly respected degree in that field.

If what you desire is a resident degree from one of the world’s top schools then the only way to get it is to attend that school as a resident student. You can study online or by distance at most and the learning outcomes may well be the same or even greater – the experience will be different though so no true equality can exist between the two for that reason.

The “meaning of the diploma” rests largely in the prestige and reputation of that school. If you are referring to learning outcomes as opposed to “what people think” then there are plenty of options, including simply reading the subject on your own and conducting your own research.

In general, an online degree does not have the same acceptance/credibility as an on-campus degree. The truth of this is revealed by the great length online students go to hide the online nature of their degree. They are typically very concerned that the dreaded word “online” does not appear on their sheepskin and transcripts, and they are forever afraid of being outed as online “correspondence school” graduates.

It is true that some very respectable universities offer online/external degrees, but not a month passes that some highly placed politician (perhaps third world) or businessman is not disgraced when it revealed in the press that his degree was from a “legitimate” school but was earned “online” or by postal service. Newspapers gleefully expose such “phonies”.

Give your answer to this question please!
