Q&A: Windows fax console won’t display faxes, though it used to.
My faxes used to preview as normal, but now I receive the error msg: “fax document cannot be displayed because your operating system does not have a default viewer for fax doc’s.” Don’t know how/why it changed, nor how to reset it. I’ve set the default view of My Pictures to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, but it didn’t help with displaying faxes. Thanks so much for any advice!
I assume that you have Windows XP
Try System restore. Go to Start > Help and Support and then click on the System Restore click. Choose a date on the calendar when you knw (or hope!) the fax preview was OK. System Restore will then put your settings back to those applicable at the chosen earlier date. The computer automatically restarts for the revised settings to take effect.

Question: windows fax and image viewer /desktop wallpaper?
Why can`t I change my desktop wallpaper with windows fax and image viewer anymore?
-When I open a picture an select “set as desktop”, nothing happens, I have to go to properties/dsktop and change it from there..
you need to google for the correct registry key value… im not sure where its at but that is a HKEY_CURRENT_USER\control panel\desktop settings\
issue

Fax Service: How do you delete images stored in windows picture and fax viewer?
right click then select delete
On the bottom toolbar, there is an “X” that you can use to delete the image. Also, right-clicking and selecting delete will send the picture to the Recycle bin. Right-clicking, and holding the SHIFT key while selcting Delete will outright delete the picture.

there may be a conflict between the new software you installed and the base windows excessory. Either delete the software or find out if the software has a (set as default) button. You may have to read the troubleshooting section in the book that came with the software.
go to My Computer and click on tools on the tool bar.
then click on folder options. in the windoe that opens click on the tab that says file types. when the list appers scroll down to the extenchion of the file type that you are trying to open with the picture and fax viewer. click on it then ckick on the button at the bottom that says changein the section that gives the detials for that file type. the slect picture and fax viewer and click ok. to open that picture in the picture editor then in stead of dubble clicking in it right click on the picture and put your mouse over “open with” the slect the program that you want to open the picture or file with. if the program you want to use is not in the list then run or start up the program and open the picture within that program. hope that helps

like if i open up the sample pictures in windows xp professional.
it opens up in windows picture and fax viewer……
plus its not a fax program….its just a JPEG image in Windows xp professional…
its normal
or else
right click on the pic then open with the microsoft picture
or open properties then chage the opener
It can open with whatever program you call the default
right click / open with…
like that guy said, its normal, if you want to change just left click it and go to properties and change the view form

pics open in folders, but Unable to open pics in Windows fax and pic. viewer on my Windows XP’s desktop
I reeboted it many times
.jpg and all
try again after you reboot
What type of image are you trying to open using Windows fax and picture viewer? Maybe, its not supported or the picture is either corrupted or empty.

highlight them all, right click and delete
click on each picture 1 time
right click holding ctrl no key board
choose delete

You really do not want to do that. It can open many types of image other programs can not. Might force you into buying a very expensive program like photoshop to read some of those.
I think it’s under the “Remove Windows Components” option in Add/Remove Programs (Which is located in the Control Panel).
I have no idea why you would want to do that though . . . What did it ever do to you?
Have you ever try uninstalling it with Perfect Uninstaller? Maybe you can have a try with it for during using this program, I found that it can uninstall any unwanted program. Wish you good luck with this program!

I have Windows XP. I can delete the pictures individually, but that takes a long time.
find the location of the pictures, or its directory where they are save or stored, when ur in the directory select the pictures, if u want to select all ,hold control key + A then press delete key at the keyboard.
u cant delete all at once in windows picture and fax viewer
but u can go to the folder of the pictures and ctrl +A to select all and press delete key to delete all in that folder
Yes, From your explorer menu, click on edit, then click, select all, then right click and click on delete.
Go to “Edit” at the top of the page. Click on “select all”. Then “right click’ on one of the files that’s highlighted and click delete.

The program that comes with your scanner should be able to let you view several pages. Is there some reason why you ask just about Picture and Fax Viewer?
