We had an 1/3 hp insinkerator badger and the grinding chamber actually cracked and split. So, off to shopping–came across this unit and wanted to try a different company’s machine. The price was right for the size of the unit. I took this out of the box, reviewed the install and completed the project in less than 45 minutes. The unit looks great and fit perfectly where the badger was. Of interest, the 9980 comes with a 90 degree elbow out of the side of the machine to hook to the waste line. On a double sink, this wouldn’t work. So I used the tail from the badger which was a straight pipe and discarded the elbow. The unit then fit right into place–picture perfect. It seems to me on the height and hookup, the measurements were exact to that of the insinkerator badger. So the hardest part of the install was removing the old unit which was seemingly extremely tight in place–that took the majority of the time. Of other interest, when you go to fit the collar to the unit, make sure you use soft soap as it suggests–the unit popped right into place with no struggle. Also, the instruction says on a stainless sink to not use plumber’s putty but to use the rubber gasket–did and no leaks.

Got the Disposer on time. It is a big and heavy disposer compared to the badger I had. The buid quilty is excellent and has a solid feel. Only problem experinced was the assembly, took me and my dad about 2 hrs plus to get it installed but was worth it. Very quite operation and has the lifetime warranty peace of mind.

Had some difficulty getting the pieces apart. there were not clear directions and I did worry that I hadn’t done something right or that I’d move the sealed collar. It just wasn’t clear that it would pull right out if carefully applying pressure. Once that was done it was pretty straightforward installing. I suppose because it is on a stainless steel sink that it makes quite a bit of noise despite the dampening effect of the collar. It works well and rather than remove the plug and attempt to hardwire the number 12 supply line I added a female plug to the supply line and plugged the unit in under the sink. the supply line is operated by a switch on the counter. Its a pretty heavy item to lift and secure but it looks pretty good. I still have to tighten up the dishwasher line which has hose clamps and a slight tendency to leak, but that was necessary on the old unit from time to time.

This Waste King disposal arrived in a flash— excellent order fulfillment! My key issue in satisfaction is operation and longevity. Disposer seems to work fine, but have had it in operation for only about two weeks. Expect it to last *at least* 5+ years. It appeared to be easy to install, but mine was done by a pro. Downside? I find the unit to be rather loud when it’s operating. Have not seen db stats for disposer units. If noisiness is an issue, consumers won’t discover it until after unit is purchased and installed— true for everything from auto tires to garbage disposers. Warrantee on this unit is excellent— a key element in my decision to purchase it as a result of highly informative website: http://www.anaheimmfg.com

Worked great so far. Installation fairly easy for an amateur first-timer. Lots of power at a great price!!
